"The Firecloud set was BLISS. sometimes it's hard to tell who's doing what, but man... If you're going for transporting us to a supertemporal plane of rhythm and motion and interrelated energy, then I think you nailed it." - Facebook comment

Bio

A trio of large personalities, Andy Reiner, Julie Vallimont and DJ Nanocannon (Andrew Hlynsky) joined forces to become the ultimate live techno band: Firecloud! Fiddle melodies and vocals float alongside piano/synth lines through a landscape of hypnotic electronic grooves. Using the most danceable aspects of each of their musical influences, the members of Firecloud pair original and traditional Celtic and Appalachian fiddle tunes, bluegrass, Klezmer and folk melodies with creative new electronic beats and sounds; the resulting live improvisational mash-up is a pioneering new form of dance music that works equally well in a festival, concert, club, or contra dance setting.

Andy Reiner's illustrious musical past includes being a cultural ambassador for the State Department, travelling Southeast Asia playing bluegrass with The Earth Stringband. A Berklee graduate, he has also toured across the US, Canada and Europe with Blue Moose and the Unbuttoned Zippers and Fiddlefoxx, and has composed major works for string orchestra.

Julie Vallimont travels nationwide playing with the contra band Nor’easter and helped pioneer a new live form of techno contra as a founding member of the band Double Apex. Her compelling, rhythmic piano style draws on her study of New England contra piano and traditional Quebecois, Irish, and Cape Breton music, along with elements of rock and jazz.

Andrew “Nanocannon” Hlynsky is a digital audio scientist from the future. He attended the New School for Jazz and Contemporary music in New York, then went to Berklee to study electronic music. He works as a sound designer and custom electronic instrument builder.
