Bio

Firekills - "Watch your step, I'd hate to feel good about your fall," a line from their song "Last Impression," perfectly sums up with infrared precision the assault with which Firekills hits you. Their direction is best described as a working class take of post-punk colliding with metal tendencies. From a lyrical post apocalyptic introspection to an ever looming musical eruption, Firekills has the rare gift of being able to think and rock at the same time.

This Austin five piece have had an undeniable impact on the Central Texas music scene since forming in the summer of 2002. Members include Jamie (vocals), Erik (guitars), Jimmy (guitars), Jeremy (bass) and Daniel (drums). After making an impression upon 101X DJ/Music Director Toby Ryan with their incendiary live energy, Ryan introduced them to local 'lord of the board' producer/engineer/mixer Dwight Baker. Coming out of lightening paced sessions in mid '04 was the seven song EP "A better way to hurt each other" and in '07 the full length LP "Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt." They immediately set their sights on logging as many road miles of regional touring, to cut as wide a swath through Texas as possible. Touring every conceivable square inch of the state as well as regional runs to Florida and back as well as a 3 week stint on the 2005 Warped Tour , 2004 was highlighted with Houston's Alternative giant 94.5 The Buzz kicking in spins of multiple cuts and being selected to play the Texas Warped Tour dates. Their work ethic along with their growing reputation progressed to Austin's KROX (101X) adding “Myopia" into medium rotation. In the process, it became a Top 5 researching record after a few months of airplay. Their first EP pressing is completely sold out and with "Myopia" in recurrent rotation the shows only get larger and the connection to the kids only deepens. Their music is not for the velvet rope/guest list crowd, but of a scene whose sense of intensity, integrity, and independence will triumph over trends that court fashion over substance. For those tired of media hype, homogenized music, and the fake rebels that fill our airwaves, record stores, and hard drives, Firekills is the solution. In a culturally depraved and lost society, their music provides us with "A better way to hurt each other."
