"The Hartford Advocate"

I’m glad I let this one sink in for a while — for just a five-song EP, it’s more complex than meets the eye. Mathieu Rodrigue’s unusual voice will be the make-it-or-break-it for most listeners: kinda saccharine, kinda touchy-feely. But it’s no emo put-on; his voice goes there because it belongs there. “I have been slaving away these past few years,” he sings on “Nightmares,” and you don’t doubt for one second that you wouldn’t trade your last half-decade for his. The guitar melodies and production have a very Death Cab for Cutie vibe, and fans of that band, Copeland, or Mineral will definitely enjoy this disc. - The Hartford Advocate

Bio

Smooth poised bass, composed vocal melodies, and a polar dialogue created by guitars and percussion. Highly influenced by qualities of today's most talented indie bands like Death Cab for Cutie, Circa Survive and Mars Volta. Firma derived its indie/rock style from a creative stand-point, which in turn defied trends and allowed biased listeners to respect the genuine effort the band has thus far put into.

Within the first year of Firma's life it became apparent that a following of people from the central connecticut area started to pay close attention. Since the dawn of Firma in late 2005, the band has already played a long list of shows throughout New England, sharing the stage with such acts as: Copeland, Straylight Run, Ben Jelen, June, Cute is What We Aim For, All Time Low and Matt Pond PA. With 2007 just over the horizon, the band has big plans for an east-coast tour.

The process of defining ones musical place in this business is a task that takes years and years of time and just doing it. In a short period of time the young men of Firma have found out that ones task is not only be a listener of music but as a musician, find not what they want to imitate, but rather what they want to create. In defining their own sound - years of playing, listening, and doing has brought them to this point.

It is not often that a young band takes the time both in spending energy toward its music and dreams, but also in the manner in which they achieve their success as an artist. In a short period of time, these four young musicians have found a way to combine a unique lyrical sense and a very listenable sound.

The band has recently released their debut EP "manifold".
