First Hit

Since April of 2007 First Hit has been treading forcefully forward, seamlessly drawing the attention of the UCF College & Orlando music scene. They have quickly been able find their niche by performing at local college bars where their rock-reggae vibe has spread like wild-fire. Drawing influences from reggae, jazz, hip hop, & rock, First Hit has cultivated a sound that provides a breath of fresh air from the 4 bar, power chord chorus you hear over and over again on the radio. Drawing crowds of over 300 plus people has not been uncommon at their home town venue Medici’s Cigar Bar & Lounge. “The support is overwhelming,” says singer, guitarist Blake Johnson. “We never imagined things would be going so well for us with only a years worth of work under our belt. Hands down, we have the best friends anyone could ask for and it has shown with all the support we have received to get us rolling forward.” After the release of their debut self-titled album (July 2007) they have distributed close to 1,000 CDs on their own budget. Everything you hear is a production of the band. We write, rehearse, and record everything on our own terms. Having taken the time and money to acquire professional gear to we have made it possible for ourselves to act as our own record label for the time being. Recently, First Hit has started to expand outside of Orlando, having played in Miami, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia. They are now approaching completion of the writing process for their new album which will be recorded and completed by end of October 2008. After the release First Hit plans to unleash a full force tour across the United States in hopes of drawing the attention of the masses and larger record label support.
