First Time Victor

First Time Victor

BandWorldPop

Music you'd dance to on a sunny Caribbean beach. Mixing Pop and Soul to Reggae, Soukouss, Zouk and Hi-Life.

Biography

First Time Victor, suggesting victory on the band's first performance, remembering how successful that first live appearance at the Purple Crab was. Since then, the band has played many venues in Vancouver and its area, sometimes even attracting passers-by into the club thanks to their infectious grooves.

First Time Victor distills a brand new mix of vibes resulting in an original sound that has the crowds up their feet. Afro-Caribbean beats, bouncy music to which you'd dance to on a sunny beach.

Mike Pugh and Brad Bradley were high school jam buddies who wanted to do more than jam. Mike and Brad had been composing songs together for years, and started auditioning singers to front their soon-to-be band. After giving up on the initial search for singers, they met Alex, the European wonder who could keep a beat, and the band started to gain momentum with the addition of talents Jenna Mack, on vocals and Kevin Tang on trombone.

In April and May 2007, the 5-member strong band was shortlisted and eventually selected by the Vancouver Arts Institute to help its students with their final year recording projects. The band thus recorded its demo in the Institutes's own studio.

First Time Victor has since performed various venues, clubs and festivals all over BC since the summer of 2007 (Backstage Lounge, Railway Club, Cafe Deux Soleils, Purple Crab, Moe Joe's in Whistler, Kidstock festival on SaltSpring Island,...)

Lyrics

Ode Solo

Written By: Alex Babeanu

L'onde chante
Vibration lente
Chaleur plaisante
... là-bas (whispered)
Réfléchie dans la nuit
Elle est toute ma vie
Frémissement sans bruit

B (Chorus)
Toute seule dans ma chambre
et je pense à toi
Allongée sur mon lit,
l'oeil à l'infini

te voilà sur la plage
l'écume dechainée
te lèche gentiment
(la plante) les pieds

Pluie glacée
Ode inachevée
Froid désespéré
... ici (whispered)
J'entend venir les pas
Tu t'avances vers moi
Et je te tends les bras

Chorus

L'onde chante
Vibration lente
Chaleur plaisante
... à moi (whispered)
S'éloigne dans les nuées
Mes yeux sont pleins de buée
Mon coeur crie, malmené

C - instrumental

Pluie glacée
Ode inachevée
Froid désespéré
... jamais(whispered)
Je revet mon carquois
Pour me passer de toi
Me voilà prête au combat

Toute seule dans ma chambre
et j'ne pense plus à toi
Allongée sur mon lit,
Tout va bien merci

te voilà sur la plage
l'écume déchainée
te grignote lentement
les pieds
