Bio
First To Leave began in 2004 when Matt joined a garage band started by his friends. They quickly went from playing house shows to good-sized local events and picked up a bunch of fans along the way.
In 2006 First To Leave released their demo album Change Never Lasts on local label Straight-On Records. During this period the band also signed to Lobster Records and began to write new songs for their debut full-length album.
First To Leave flew to Baltimore, MD in August 2006 to put their debut effort in the hands of producer extraordinaire J Robbins (Jets To Brazil, Mock Orange, Fairweather). A perfect match of influence on First To Leave from the person who also helped shape The Promise Ring, Hey Mercedes and None More Black.
The result, Forging A Future, blasts twelve songs sparkling with energy and brimming with deep observations about the touchstone issues of growing up and moving on. Forging A Future takes a direct look at events that make us who we are, where we came from and where we are going. Standing on the shoulders of pop-punk giants Lifetime and Saves The Day First To Leave takes a long look over the landscape of teenage need-to-be-loved, need-to-be-wanted, need-to-be-somebody.
Forging A Future is available in the fall of 2007 worldwide. First To Leave has a busy schedule of nationwide tour dates arranged for the year and is sure to be playing in a town near you.
