"FISHDOCTOR WILL EARN YOUR MUSICAL ADORATION"

My dad has a PhD in fisheries, so Brooklyn-based FISHDOCTOR has a leg up in the fight for my musical adoration simply because of their name. Suppressing this instinct to love the band solely for this reason, I listened their new track “Seasons” and found their surf-pop style to have a value all its own. Upbeat percussion and expansive guitar propel the song’s sweeping melody, while sweetly harmonized vocals pull the song upward, giving it a fragrant, dreamy feel. This is the second song they’ve released in the past two months after “Atlantic”, both of which will be a part of their upcoming album. Roll the windows down for this one and enjoy! - The Wild Honey Pie

"Little Indie Blogs: First Listen"

So none of them may be doctors, of the piscean persuasion or otherwise, but Brooklyn-based Fishdoctor look set to provide all musical medicinal needs.

Having just last month released their double A-side single (taken from their debut album set for release later this year) 'Seasons' / 'Atlantic' - which you can hear below - through their own Fishtank Records label, the six-piece crew has established itself a little niche of melodic surf-pop, aided by some smooth vocals and harmonising.

Fishdoctor are: Michael Romano (vocals, guitar); Jared Lindbloom (vocals, keys); Michael Panico (guitar, keys); Alex Shifrin (bass); Brian Garbedian (drums); Rocco Romanelli (auxiliary percussion) - Little Indie Blogs

"The Music Ninja Premiere - Fishdoctor 'Atlantic'"

As summer comes to a sweet sunny end, we’re left holding on to memories of late night beach rendezvous, backyard BBQs, and hours on end in cool refreshing bodies of water. While those memories will keep us warm through the chilly fall and winter months, it’s always nice to have a little assistance.

Brooklyn based psyche-surf rock outfit Fishdoctor has served up a hearty helping of warm vibes with their release “Atlantic”. This tune dropped about a month ago and features fast paced hi hat work that creates a perfect rhythm for the surf rock style guitar strumming and crooning vocals.

Today we’re excited to exclusively premiere the music video to accompany the tune, which features a compilation of a band members’ family home video footage from the 1940’s. The song mixed with the classic footage is a surge of nostalgia that will leave you missing everything that’s great about the summer months. - The Music Ninja

"Fishdoctor's New Single "Atlantic""

When Fishdoctor released their debut EP, I'm With the Bandwidth in 2011, there wasn't much hype associated with the group, not even in their hometown of Brooklyn.

The music world really missed the boat on this group.

Thankfully,they've given us another shot.

The indie rockers have just started streaming their new single "Atlantic," in which they stay true to their electro-pop/surfer sound.

The group is set to play a show tonight at the Lit Lounge in NYC, then one on the 22nd at Webster Hall, and finally one in Philly at Underground Arts. You can check out the new single "Atlantic" above and listen to their short discography at their bandcamp page. Enjoy.

"Fishdoctor Split Seasons on “Summer in the Wintertime” — Song Premiere"

Hanging in your parents’ basement isn’t thought of as the coolest thing to do to pass the time, but for New York six-piece Fishdoctor, bumming around during a holiday break was the impetus for “Summer in the Wintertime.” “I wrote the guitar tracks on my laptop and brought the idea to [vocalist] Jared after he got back from vacation in Australia,” explains guitarist Michael Panico. “The song was inspired by the opposing seasons as it was summer in Australia and winter in New York.” The song comes from the band’s debut album, The Swell — and album that’s inspired by ’60s surf rock sounds more than adolescent couch surfing.

The Swell is out May 29 via Bandcamp. - MTVhive

"I'm with the bandwidth"

After about 45 minutes of being completely and utterly uninspired, I came across FISHDOCTOR. Easily in the running to be one of my top picks for the summer, FISHDOCTOR hooked me with their smooth and synthy pop. ‘Summer In The Wintertime’ is one of those tracks that I would keep selfishly to myself, play it through my speakers and grin at every passerby. But, alas, tonight I find myself feeling completely 100% unselfish. It’s a good thing too, because I truly think FISHDOCTOR have written songs worth sharing. Plus, you need a summer band just as much as I do. Lovecat - Dingus

"FISHDOCTOR at PIANOS 8/16/11"

This may be one of the first concerts I’m reviewing that sounds summer appropriate. Nothing creepy. Nothing slow. Sunshine and sherbert all the way. Fish Doctor. Well if that doesn’t sound like some kind of inside joke I don’t know what does. But fish implies water, which implies surfing, and being that these songs belonged loosely to the surf rock genre (more specifically electro-surf), It somehow clicks.
My first thought was “Something is wrong… A respectable indie band has to have at least one really strange looking hipster. Preferably playing keyboards”. That person was nowhere in sight. These guys were overwhelmingly normal and American looking. I would put money down that at least 3 of these guys attended the same frat. Not to say they didn’t have characters of their own: Most notably, a dead ringer for Scott Stapp on lead vocals, and a hulking slab of bass thumping meat to his left side.
Stapp’s doppleganger also answers to the name Jared Lindbloom. I know nothing about the guy, but from his audience banter I could infer that he was from South Dakota (Did you know they had Jews there? I didn’t). He came off as an amicable guy with a good solid voice, and enthusiastic stage presence. From what I gather this band sprung from a studio experiment of his, and maybe one bandmate. Fortunately they sounded like a BAND, though, which is more than some studio experiments can say- a tight, well rehearsed band, that clearly loved performing.
They opened up with “If You’re Not Sitting Down”, a song off their 4 track EP that I particularly liked. It’s very much an 80’s tribute all the way down to the faux Human-League accent. My other favorite, “Summer in the Wintertime”, breezy lighthearted fare with Vampire Weekend undertones, was crammed in the middle of the set. The two sound nothing alike. In fact, the only thing most of their songs have in common is being uptempo and frequent indulgence of synth lines, surfy guitar sounds and whammy bar wizardry. At times, their propulsive drumming and watery guitar lines even recalled early-era Police.
They have the ingredients- Charisma, chops, some solid hooks- The thing that’s missing is a cohesive purpose. They’re playing with different sounds, styles, and eras and haven’t yet figured out or capitalized on what they do best. Diversity is no sin, but in marine terms, you ultimately want to find your harbor.
I’m going to save you the effort of sifting through dozens of fish maintenance websites, and just post their EP right here: - indie uh

"Go Electro-Surfing With FISHDOCTOR"

Experience some end-of-summer Brooklyn electro-surf pop with Fishdoctor's debut I'm With The Bandwidth.

Fishdoctor's first EP, I'm With The Bandwidth, is a blend of exactly half straightforward electro-pop and half silly (and much more enjoyable) indie surf-rock . The quirky band, who formed in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, is made up of five guys and a girl from exotic locales such as South Dakota, Long Island and Florida who proudly claim in their bio that “the diversity of their sound is only matched by their diversity in taste for women.”

Love of all women aside, while Fishdoctor hasn't seen an extreme amount of press since their February 2011 debut, the Brooklyn band might find themselves more popular in the near future owing to a constant stream of tour dates at New York's better venues with acts such as Bridget and the Squares, Cassette Kids and the like. Though we'd recommend that they'd leave their sillier electro half behind (especially with songs that contain lyrics like “If you're not sitting down/you should be dancing”), the lightheartedness that comes out in their spot-on surf-inspired tracks is genuinely fun to listen to, especially around this time of year.

Check out the rollicking “Summer in the Wintertime” below for your listening pleasure, or follow the links on the lower-right hand side for more of Fishdoctor's tracks as well as upcoming tour dates. - In Your Speakers
