"Top 10 Costumed Toronto Bands of All Time"

"Out of all our costumed bands, FITNESS have the ultimate synchronicity between form and function. Their moves and costumes come straight out of an 80s workout video, but don't call them a parody - they're seriously invested in the concept. At their shows, you'll see brightly coloured leggings, short shorts, neon armbands, and some sweet choreography. The music fits with the theme as well, with upbeat post-punk tunes that get audiences moving. The icing on the cake is a series of TTC Fit videos made for commuters to get their groove on." - BlogTO (Dorian Barton)

"Burner Mag celebrates its Music Issue with a little help from Toronto band FITNESS"

Our lady-crush on the girls from Burner Magazine is certainly no secret, so when they asked us to come out and celebrate their Music Issue, it was an offer we couldn't refuse. Good conversation, as-yet-unreleased wine to sip on, and a seriously brain-blowing performance from Toronto band Fitness? The perfect Friday night. A Burner party guarantees some serious babes and serious smarts, and the impromptu dancefloor inspired by Fitness' amazing energy made for an unforgettable night. Make sure to check out the big, beautiful music issue here, which includes interviews with Yoko Ono and Saul Williams, as well as mixtapes curated by Kate Carraway and Jian Ghomeshi, and stay tuned for the next issue of Burner, the Revolutionaries issue. - SheDoesTheCIty.com

"50 River Questionnaire with band members of FITNESS"

"Fitness is a constantly shape-shifting beast, uncontainable, unpredictable, precise and powerful – not one to approach carelessly. The band’s uncanny ability to embody a revved up New Order, then attack with the brash and driving electro-punk of “Fasttrack” or the full-blown, snarling Rock power of “Crazy”, makes FITNESS a potent creature." + Q&A with the band. - 50 River Concert Series

"PureGrainAudio.com Presents: "Spenny's Bands to Watch in 2011""

"Bands to Watch In 2011". These are bands, in no particular order, you should check out and keep in rotation on your music player of choice over the course of this coming year and into the future, as they will be picking up speed. There's so much to say about each of these bands, but I’ll keep it as brief as possible. Check the bands out and let me know what you think by leaving a comment!

06. Fitness (Electro, Indie, Disco)
the Skinny: Ever seen an 80s workout video? Catching Fitness live is the same experience, but way more fun. Fitness will have you dancing, sweating, singing along and getting fit all at the same time. Fitness plays workout video inspired tunes and has a live show with musical theatre-esque dance numbers to go along with the stories told in their songs. Come out to a show and get your booty movin’! - PureGrainAudio.com

"FITNESS – SESSIONS: Episode 23"

"Get out your spandex and headbands cause it’s time everyone started sweating to the …. new…ees.? Toronto’s FITNESS know how to throw a show that’s ready to make you drop those pounds: enough so that by the end of the night, you might just be sweating more than they are! Check out “Fasttrack” and “Bossy” and then check out the gang for your next workout on MySpace." + video footage of one of our rehearsals - The Indie Machine - fusionradio.ca

Bio

Tongue-in-cheek absurdity crossed with dark truthful lyrics has produced a compelling DIY post-punk new wave sound to accompany your body movements. It's FITNESS!!!

Songwriter and vocalist Sean Ban Beaton has helped shape the songs into something dynamic and provocative, communicating grand themes from a raw and personal point of view. Teamed with co-vocalist Nicki Ramjass, their call-and-answer antics add an element of raw spontaneity and performance art to the stage show. Drummer James Miller and bassist/guitarist Giles Botlho fill out the rhythm section admirably with a high-energy intensity you would expect from a band called FITNESS. And with Sahra Ucar on keys, the whole machine runs like a well oiled stairmaster.

FITNESS does the body good - pass it on!
