Bio

The quintet formerly known as The Bump, changed its name to Five Foot Ficus in December 2004, but the roots of the band go back to September 2002 when Sam was introduced to Matt at Gritty McDuffs in Portland.

Sam, Matt, Mike Martin and former guitarist Mike Levine quickly established a sound all their own and with the solid songwriting of Levine, the band quickly found success in the bars of Portland's Old Port. Less than a year later, Levine departed the band due to life, and the responsebilities that go with it.

In need of a new guitarist, the band had to look no further than their good friend and Matt's UNH jammate, Les Williams. Shortly after, Portland refugee Pete Marston, was introduced to the quartet and after one practice, was asked to join.

Since then, the band has shared stages with regional favorites such as Max Creek, Roots of Creation and Percy Hill as well as local heavy hitters, Sly-Chi, Pete Kilpatrick, Los Federales and Sidecar Radio. While getting steady airplay on WCYY of thier hit single "Hello my Name is Kylee".

In the summer of '05 Five Foot Ficus entered the studio to record their debut album "Blue Wall". The CD release party was held at Brian Boru's on St. Patrick's Day '06. Playing for well over 1000 people, the band said an emotional goodbye to bassist Mike Martin as they played a marathon 4+ hour show.

A new chapter in this band has begun. With the addition of Zack on the bass guitar the future looks bright for this group of friends. With plans to start work on a new record in Fall 2007, Five Foot Ficus is ready to take the world by storm!
