Biography

Five Minute Plan is an indie rock quartet from Central Florida that has been releasing their own material and taking their exciting live performance all over the state for five years, while finding new fans from around the world over the internet every day. Their catchy pop songs belie a deeper meaning through their lyrics, a message of hope and strength for the future. 5MP songs deal with issues of spirituality, morality, drug abuse, growing up, and staying true to yourself as opposed to being constantly fixated on girl problems and self loathing.

Fans often note diversity of influence and sound along with a noticeable songwriting maturity as a large part of Five Minute Plan's appeal. Two distinct vocalists/songwriters along with years of experience no doubt lend to this perception. Influences include Third Eye Blind, Boston, Steely Dan, mxpx, The Get Up Kids, Saves the Day, Weezer and Jimmy Eat World.

You Gotta Do What You Gotta Do

Written By: Five Minute Plan

Get a job
It's the only way to survive
Don't need to like it
What is half your life?
Gotta make the money
Doesn't matter what you want
They'll make you do what you think you won't
You know what happens if you do
And what happens if you don't

You gotta do what you gotta do now
(You gotta do what you gotta do!)
You gotta do what you gotta do now
(You gotta do what you came here to do!)

Write it down
It could be anything at all
Mind every second
Your back's against the wall
Gotta make the money
They don't even know your name
It doesn't matter when we're all the same
It's so easy to be inane
And it's better to play the game

You gotta do what you gotta do now
(You gotta do what you gotta do!)
You gotta do what you gotta do now
(You gotta do what you came here to do!)
(You gotta do what they pay you to do!)

You can't spend the day in bed
It better get inside your head
You're indifferent all day long
They're gonna love a shallow song
You've gotta find yourself a girl
It's the worst line in the world
You've gotta get up out of here
Am I being insincere?

Remember me, it's not easy to be marketable
The young and good looking sell out record stores
But being one of a kind doesn't make you forgettable

It's a vicious cycle and stadium seating is full
And they can find somebody willing to start it all over again

March in time, it's not hard to find your place in the world
If you piece it together from everyone else
But being one of a kind doesn't make you forgettable

It's a vicious cycle and stadium seating is full
The moment your life gained meaning that wasn't fulfilled
It's the beginning of a revolution conformity killed
They found somebody willing to start it all over again

It's the dawn of creation
Do it again
It's the mother of invention
Said do it again
It's another cheap hit record
Buy it again

Two Weeks Notice

Written By: Five Minute Plan

You open your eyes, once again you'll be conscious
This half you despise, it's weighing on your conscience
Yeah, we're always so cautious
And now I wish I lost this...

But have I gone too far?
Far too far to drop it?
See that change coming
You can't, you won't stop it
Said I just need some time to collect myself
Son, you'll get none, life is short, enjoy your health
We'll be needing your time and your trust
Here's your lust, here's your wealth
You'll take it, yeah you'll like it

You know, it's bringing me down, today I missed the sunlight
A blank stare and a frown, can't you tell I know it's not right?
Soon I'll leave this, soon I might I'll stop giving in to fright

I'll take off without notice
No, you won't get a warning
Say what happened and where's a helping hand this morning?
It won't be long, I'll be quickly replaced
With someone else to make haste and to pick up the pace
And I'll be somewhere else
I'll be far from this place
I'll have a smile on my face

I said I'm ready to go
(Today I missed the sunlight)
Cause I won't take much longer
(Can't you tell I know it's not right?)
Yeah, nothing lasts forever
(I'll stop giving in to)
Giving in to fright
