Fix Monday

Fix Monday

BandPopRock

"… lush harmonies, big guitars and great songs."
tom robinson, bbc 6 music

"wiry indie rock with posies-sized harmonies and a pop minded ear on the melodies; dreamy lines melt into the stabbed guitars and create something, well, something rather exciting!"

Biography

Mondays are rubbish.

They come round too quickly and ruin your Sunday evening. They remind you how much you hate your job and your boss. Enter Fix Monday, four lads from Leamington on a musical crusade to make your life better.

Fix Monday's thoughtfully crafted pop songs enter your head and stay there. With many musical influences including Jeff Buckley, Elbow and Queen, the band has developed a reputation for elaborate vocal harmonies, being known to step off stage and into the audience to sing unplugged, anchored only by a single guitar. This recently caught the attention of Grammy award winning producer Roger Lomas who described the band's live performance and songwriting as "excellent".

Not content waiting for a record label to sign them, Fix Monday created their own and signed themselves - through Sherpa Recordings the band released their debut single 'Margaret Peterson' on 1st December 2008, leading to several plays on Tom Robinson's BBC 6 Music "Introducing" show. A DIY national tour followed, which saw the band playing to packed out venues, gaining new fans both locally and further afield.

An autumn physical release and plenty of gigging left their fan base wanting more. 2010 is set to deliver with new material, videos, a new release and yet more gigs.

Margaret Peterson

Written By: Armstrong/Ashelby/Caines/Roberts

I'm running out of time.
I'm running out of time
And I'm running out on you.

Clocks ticking, all my life.
The clocks ticking, all my life.
A countdown to you.

And by the end of it
I'll be so out of breath
That I can't speak to you,
Why'd you want me to?

I struggle with finesse.
I always catch my breath
When I dream of you.

And by the end of it
I'll be so out of breath
That I can't speak to you,

I want to,
Be everything.
I want to,
Be everything to you.

(Do do...)
(Ahh...)

And by the end of it,
I'll be so out of breath
That I can't speak to you,
Why'd you want me to?

(Do do...)
I'll stick to you if you want me to.
I'll stick to you if you want me to.
I'll stick to you, yes I'll stick like glue
I'll stick to you if you want me.
(Ahh...)

I Still Go To Pieces

Written By: Armstrong/Ashelby/Caines/Roberts

You could say, you could say it's physical.
You could say, you could say it's only natural.
You could say, you could say it's minor.
And you could say, you could say it's fine but,

I still go to pieces,

Everytime you (oh oh)
You look at me, (oh oh)
You talk to me. (oh oh)
You're giving me the eye, the smile that makes me want you, and oh, (oh oh)
I know I shouldn't want you. (oh oh)
I thought I didn't want you (oh oh)
But even now I still go to pieces.

You would think, you would think it's only lust.
You would think, you would think that I've had enough.
You would think, you would think it's forgotten.
And you would think, you would think this means nothing,

But I still go to pieces,

Everytime you (oh oh)
You look at me, (oh oh)
You talk to me. (oh oh)
You're giving me the eye, the smile that makes me want you, and oh, (oh oh)
I know I shouldn't want you. (oh oh)
I thought I didn't want you (oh oh)
But even now I still go to pieces.

I still go to pieces,
When I see you,
Go to pieces.

This Will Make My Life Better

Written By: Armstrong/Ashelby/Caines/Roberts

This will make my life better.
This will make my life better.

Yes it will.
Yes it will, I'm sure that it will.

It will make me strong.
It will make me feel the world's the one that's got it wrong.
It will set me at ease,
It will make me pleased,
It will make me happier than I've been in a long,
A long, long time.

This will make my life better.
This will make my life better.

Yes it will.
Yes it will, I'm sure that it will.

It will make me calm.
It will let me sleep at night and wake without alarm.
It will shoulder the blame,
Let me breathe again.
It will be the best decision I have made by far,
Oh by far.

You can't take the smile from
My face even though I
Don't know what it is I'm
Smiling about.

Oh yes it will.
Yes it will, I'm sure that it will.

It will make me strong.
It will make me feel the world's the one that's got it wrong.
It will set me at ease,
It will make me pleased,
It will make me happier than I've been in a long,
A long, long time.
