"SXSW Band Of The Week"

Fizzy Blood are a five-piece rock band from Leeds made up of Paul, Benji, Jake, Ciaran, and Tim. From only forming in 2014, the band have already had some major successes in their career and have also gained a heavily loyal fanbase. They made their way across the pond for their first ever US shows at SXSW Music Festival which was a huge deal for the band to show loads of new people their music. Their most recent release is track Sweat and Sulphur which is a banging tune full of roaring bass and drums, raging guitar riffs, and catchy, piercing vocals. Sweat and Sulphur is one of my favorite tracks from the band, but we can’t forget about their well-received EP entitled Feast EP. The EP includes two of their singles, January Sun and Black Sheep and also features tracks Slither, Cue to Leave, Patience, and Queen of Hearts. Each song having the signature Fizzy Blood sound that everyone loves. The band have already been announced for several big festivals in the UK including Live At Leeds, Liverpool Sound City, and Long Division. The only way for this band is up, and they’re sure to make it big in the near future because they’re just that good. If you are in the UK, make sure you catch one of their shows this April.

"Highlights of Camden Rocks!"

This five piece from Leeds, consisting of mates Paul, Benji, Jake, Ciaran and Tim are a powerhouse of hardcore rock’n’ roll – and that is something that becomes apparent from the first chord struck.

The boys came out with ringing heavy riffs, instantly blaring through the the room while front man, Benji screamed through the mic. All of the niche defining talent irrupting from the musicians resulted in manic screams and a scramble for space to move on the small Hawley Arms stage. You could hear the bass player’s crazed scream into the crowd despite not having a mic in front of him. Meanwhile, front man Benji kept his cool and strong stance throughout. It’s a wonder how this cool image is maintained whilst blaring out seemingly effortless hardcore vocals.

‘Patience’ and ‘Up and Down’ were clearly the highlights of the set, and we even got to experience ‘ADHD’ a track never before played live. The emotive lyrics, upbeat bass lines and playful drums lured the crowd in before they exploded into a frenzy of hardcore guitar solos and head banging.

The reason this band are going to do so well in their career is their live performances. Fizzy Blood were undoubtedly the highlight of Camden Rocks -a relentless explosion of fuzzy rock ‘n’ roll that shook up London.

"SXSW 2016"

Paul, Benji, Jake, Ciaran and Tim have been stirring up the lavish Yorkshire music scene for some time now and they bossed the British Music Embassy stage at SXSW 2016 – so much so they were one of our 8 Artists That Blew Our Socks Off.

It’s as if some evil genius has taken the blokes from Royal Blood and fused them with Arctic Monkeys. The result is a scintillating selection of six songs in the form of an extended play named Feast. We love the 80’s horror film artwork…

The track January Sun is our pick of that record. Have a listen below and if you’re not head-banging by 1.55 then there’s not a musical bone in your body.

Now you’re into it! is overflowing with these sort of stadium – sized ear-worm anthems. have a suck on Black Sheep and watch the haunting intro gravitate towards organised instrumental chaos.

Can you imagine how all this is going to sound live? It’s even better than that. Being present for one of Benji’s “huh” grunts and the rock onslaught that follows is like having 10,000 volts stuck through you. Actually, that probably would give you Fizzy Blood. - Headliner Magazine

"COME PLAY WITH FIZZY BLOOD AND 'SWEAT & SULPHUR'"

Fizzy Blood are streaming their new track, ‘Sweat and Sulphur’, which makes up one half of the second Come Play With Me singles club release.

Aiming to showcase new music across Leeds, Come Play With Me have already released tracks by Harkin and Cinerama, as well as inviting Officers to provide the accompanying track on the latest release.

“Naturally, we felt vinyl was the perfect format to present this track and we’re really happy to be working with Come Play With Me singles club to help it see the light of day,” the band continue. “It’s great to see new platforms always popping up to showcase talent in the Yorkshire area and I think the fact that we’re seeing things like this appearing is a testament to how much the music scene is thriving here at the minute.”

Speaking of the track, the band describe ‘Sweat and Sulphur’ as, “one of those tracks that came together really organically. It was born out of a combination of classic ‘hangover angst’ and listening to a lot of Phil Spector records that are loud and unforgiving but also have a lot of warm natural echo. There’s something really beautiful and distinct about that juxtaposition and I think we tried to capture and put our own spin on that.”

The singles club release will be available from the 19th February 2016, and is available to pre-order now. - Punktastic

"Camden Rocks!"

Leeds rockers Fizzy Blood (5/5) are a modest bunch, often thinking that they haven’t got a huge fanbase down this side of the country. Oh, but their set at Camden Rocks at The Hawley Arms was bound to obtain a handful of new comrades. What’s so great about Fizzy Blood is that they play with an unshakable force that shatters your core, a blend of seductive Queens of the Stone Age bluesy rock’n’roll and bouts of screams that just entice you even more. Their set comprised of explosive tracks like ‘Patience’, poppier tunes from latest singles ‘I’m No Good’ and ‘Sweat and Sulpher’, the utterly harrowing and disjointed ‘Up and Drown’, and brand new tracks showcased at recent shows (and their upcoming tour with besties Allusondrugs) such as ‘ADHD’ which follow the band’s knack for writing songs which feel wise beyond their years, and grin with satirical messages. A lot of the bands who played this festival could have done with Fizzy’s seemingly endless energy.

"Kerrang Review"

Theirs is a name that screams effervescence. And by the time the opening track Black Sheep's combination of knowing lyricism ('A glass half full is enough to keep you cool if you see through the eyes of a fool') and bucking choruses concludes you'll be inclined to agree with that description. It's no one-off either. They may have been a band for less than a year and have a Facebook bio that describes them as '5 guys, 1 cup', but both facts belie the assured craftsmanship and maturity displayed on Cue To Leave and Slither. This is one Fizzy Blood-y brilliant introduction. - Kerrang

"Premier: Fizzy Blood - I'm No Good"

Hairy-knuckle, nostril-flaring, rock music - that's Fizzy Blood.

The band's output to date is slim but visceral, a compact demonstration of guitar-bleeding thrills and sweat-drenched drums.

New single 'I'm No Good' is no exception. Rarely has introversion been so much fun, with Fizzy Blood's belching, flailing, pulse-quickening racket overpowering the melancholy of the lyrics.

Bio

Fizzy Blood are a band born from ambition, determination and resilience. Based in Leeds, UK, their refreshing musical bravery has seen them shed any traces of the generic with their own brand of retro-inspired rock. Packed full of blistering riffs combined with a modern song writing ethos, they've succeeded in creating something that stands apart from the current trend of rock music and stands with one foot in the desert blues of Queens Of The Stone Age and another firmly planted in the soulful, punk infused rock and roll of Pulled Apart By Horses.

The five piece’s primary outing commences with an assured swagger, attributed to deadpan vocals, A slippery guitar twang and a strutting rhythm section. The band's live shows are akin to shaking up a bottle of cola and plunging in a tube of Mentos. Before you can blink, Fizzy Blood’s effervescent rock ‘n’ roll froths with a rampant urgency, where those deadpan vocals have transformed into a guttural howl and the Homme/Fallon bromance has turned ugly.

In their two years of activity, Fizzy Blood have played SXSW 2016 (Austin, Texas) Download Festival 2014 (UK), Zandari Festa 2015 (South Korea), Reeperbahn 2016 (Hamburg, Germany), Liverpool Sound City (UK) along with many tours with some of the best bands in the UK scene such as Allusondrugs, Press To Meco, Freeze The Atlantic, Attention Theives, Weak Nerves, and Punk icons The Dead Kennedys.
