In its short existence Flamenco Small Band has already fullfilled its first promise of respect to the musical roots of Spain.They have been honored to work shoulder to shoulder with the musicians that wrote the recent history of Flamenco and Jazz: Jorge Pardo, Rubem Dantas, Jerry Gonzalez & Caramelo

Biography

Flamenco Small Band was born in June of 2006. Since then, this avant-garde band of traditional sounds is committed with great respect to its connection to the cultures that originated in Andalucia. This group has played, recorded, and participated in numerous Andalucian cultural projects. With eight musicians, there are five voices, three guitars, one double bass, one electric bass, one flute, three cajones, and other percussion instruments. Flamenco music was born from the fusion of Gypsy, Jewish, Arab, and later , American cultures. Flamenco Small Band consists of the modern descendents of each one of these cultures.
Influences: Paco de Lucía, Camarón de la Isla, Niño Miguel, Chick Corea, Yoruba Andabo, Irakere, Miles Davis, John Maclaughlin, Manuel de Falla, Count Basie Big Band, Jerry González, Leo Brower, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Om Kalthoum, Aytac Dogan, Ofra Hazza and Bill Evans.
