Bio

Flamenco Symphony is the combination of the flamenco guitar playing of David Massey and the classically-trained, emotional violin playing of Chris Kranyak. Chris and David both have years of experience and training in classical and flamenco stylings, and they weave their instruments together flawlessly, with elegance and virtuosity all in one. Their show consists of original music and also features an array of many popular songs and styles such as "Hotel California,""Misirlou," The Gipsy Kings, tangos, russian gypsy, classical, and themes from movies such as "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" and "The Last of the Mohicans." Their musical selection, along with their technical ability and assurance produces a unique sound and experience that leaves audiences elated.

Flamenco Symphony plays seven nights a week in and around Austin, TX. They are working on completing their first album, "Calderona," set to be released in December 2012.

David Massey comes from a rich and diverse musical background. Mostly self-taught, he began playing electric guitar at the age of 12, and then later began to study classical, spanish, and flamenco guitar. This became one of his favorite styles, while still developing his rock'n'roll, blues, and country on the electric guitar. He has toured the country with acts such as The Mothership: A Tribute to Led Zeppelin, The Dave Matthews Tribute Band, etc., and was a regular performer at the honky-tonks of downtown Nashville, before relocating to Austin in 2011. In Austin, he has begun to concentrate on his flamenco guitar playing at restaurants, private parties, and weddings as a solo guitarist. Teaming up with Violinist Christopher Kranyak has added another dimension, and Flamenco Symphony looks forward to releasing an album in late 2012.

Violinist Christopher Kranyak began his studies at the New England Conservatory in Boston, earning his bachelor's degree. He later earned a violin performance degree in Utrecht, Holland. From there he has gone on to play with symphony orchestras such as: San Juan Symphony, Puerto Rico, Oakland Symphony, Berkeley Symphony, Noordhollands Philharmonic (Holland), Halle Orchestra (UK), Western Opera and The Ray Charles Orchestra. Mr. Kranyak later joined the San Francisco Symphony with Michael Tilson Thomas and has performed in concert halls across the world. In search of a creative atmosphere for improvised music, he came to Austin in 2012 and formed Flamenco Symphony with guitarist David Massey. His Gypsy and Flamenco violin stylings are an integral part of the Flamenco Symphony sound.
