We're called 'Flaming Hearts' because our hearts are on fire for God. Through Jesus, who is the Light and Hope, it is our desire to spread this flame to the hearts that are dark and cold in this otherwise hopeless world, and to bless God using the music with which he has blessed us. It seems too many Christian artists lack creativity and depth in the regards of both their lyric and music writing. We write lyrics intentionally avoiding superficiality. Collectively, and relatively, our taste in music is very diverse, thus, expanding our creativity. Matthew enjoys playing rocky music. His music is influenced by Chris Daughtry, System of a Down, Relient K, Shine Down and rap in general. Shannon is more vocally centered, her style is influenced by Natalie Grant, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, and Paramore. Christopher enjoys playing what sounds good, simple or technical. His music is influenced by Celtic, Bluegrass (basically anything folky), Classical, Jazz, Country, Classic rock, Smashmouth, Weezer, Relient K, and rap in general. When writing music, we usually try to create a good, solid melody as a base, then we build on that. Like the difference between a beautiful car and an ugly car: a beautiful car looks good untouched, but can be improved with accessories, however, an ugly car decorated with accessories usually looks kinda crappy=) We critique ourselves, and one another, intent on keeping ourselves scripturally sound. And we try to discourage eachother from cheesyness in both our lyrics and music. Most of our music is Christ-centered, but we've written a few less than serious songs here and there. For example, 'Waffle Crisp', a particularly delicious song which includes a rap interlude; 'When I'm With You' a fictional song concerneng a man and his overly antagonistic mother-in-law. We have been interested in music for as long as we've been alive, worshiping with it, performing it, or listening to it. We also like to curl up with a good book now and then, and enjoy long walks on the beach. We have a brilliant personality!!!
