Bio

Flash was first exposed to making music via his dad’s Trad Jazz band. “My earliest memory is falling asleep under dad’s floor tom”, he says. As a result of his dad’s influence Flash had many opportunities to try an array of different instruments but gravitated to just a few. He started on drums at four, learned alto saxophone until he was 14 then made the leap to guitar. Music was destined to become a way of life for Flash and during his teens and early 20’s he busked throughout Australia & Europe to fund his extensive travels.

A love of ‘pure’ blues has seen him steer away from digital and electric styles. Although he sometimes plays a semi acoustic (old school electric), he thrives on the ‘full’ style of players like SR Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix and John Butler, all of who play/ed lead & rhythm simultaneously. Musically, he is influenced by Blues, Funk, Reggae, Jazz, Delta Slide and Rockabilly.

Flash has been part of a few different bands, backed up a few big names such as Ice House, Jenny Morris, Radiators, Angels and Kevin Borich. As a Solo musician he has consistently had residencies in pubs in Qld, NSW, Victoria and Western Australia.

At the age of 28 Flash decided to ‘get a real job’ and joined the NSW Fire Brigade where he works as Fire Fighter, in Wollongong. Flash still has time for playing and regularly has gigs locally.

Recently, he has been inspired to write his own music and his debut album, ‘Flash @ Home and Kinda Funky’ is the result. This album is full of funky guitar rifts and upbeat bass. His love of surfing, a harmony with nature and a true love for life and family have been his source of lyrical inspiration.
