Flavia & The Red

If Amy Winehouse had the Funk Brothers as her band, playing The Beatles' "Abbey Road" record...a child would be born, and that child would be named Flavia & The Red.

Biography

Los Angeles-based band, Flavia & The Red, has shot onto the music scene like a bullet. The principal singer and songwriter is 22-year-old Flavia Watson. Born in California, but raised through her formative years in Ireland and Italy, Flavia exhibits a traveled and seasoned prowess that most women her age lack. Equipped with a sultry and soulful voice, her presence is the personification of the color red—emotional, fiery, and passionate.
But a talented front woman is only as good as her band. Since its inception in 2010, Flavia & The Red has shown tremendous growth gigging and captivating audiences nationwide. After various lineup changes, the band now consists of Chris Pucher on guitar, Isaac Watts on drums, Rich Brown on keys, and Max Benson on bass. Each member contributes his and her own unique qualities and influences to the secret recipe that is The Red’s musically energetic and soulful brew. The band’s overall sound contains elements of classic and modern R&B, pop, and rock. Anchored by a tight rhythm section, the music exhibits memorable melodies and interactive improvisation with Flavia’s emotional and poetic lyrics at the forefront.
The band has been touring and promoting their debut album, Too Late to Cry, which was released in December of 2012. In the summer of 2013, they successfully organized their first national tour, where they performed in the Southwest and Midwest. When not on the road they can be seen at the hottest clubs and lounges in LA, including a bi-monthly residency at Nic’s Martini Lounge in Beverly Hills. In the summer of 2012 they were chosen from hundreds of bands nationwide to go to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and perform at Summerfest, the world's largest music festival. There, they won 2nd place at the Land the Big Gig Competition.
Flavia & The Red is taking the future into its own hands and will continue to grow as it has over the last few years. They have already been featured on various blogs and magazines, including the cover story for LA lifestyle magazine, Back Seat Quarterly, and in Dublin, Ireland's Intallaght Magazine. They are currently on rotation for various radio stations around the U.S and performed live on television for WGN, as well as on Park City Television in Park City, Utah. They are constantly writing new material, planning more tours across the country, and have a new album in the works.

One Reason

Written By: Flavia & The Red

One Reason
You knew my secrets I knew your lies,
You knew my weakness, I always tried to break you,
To get the truth out of you.
It’s like squeezing blood from a stone,
You always were the one that was cold,
I made it too easy for you to know what i was thinking,
I told you you everything.
Why do you make me cry everytime we touch, every time we love?
Why do you make me want to hold you after all you did to me?

Give me one reason, to love you.
Tell me your sorry you let me go.

Every where I go people always ask me
Why i look so blue, I’m in love with you.
Everything I see reminds me of you
And what we used to be.
Your touch no longer pleases me,
Your love is not what it used to be
And I can’t go back to where I destroyed my name,
Through the pain.
You make feel like I’m not worthy of a man, worthy of man.
You make me feel lke I’m not worthy, I’m not worthy.

Give me one reason, to love you.
Tell me your sorry you let me go.
Give me one reason, to love you.
Tell me your sorry you let me go.

Dont come begging, don’t come crawling,
I won’t be there to love you,
I won’t be there to take you back.

Give me one reason, to love you.
Tell me your sorry you let me go.
Give me one reason, to love you.
Tell me your sorry you let me go.

Too Late to Cry

Too Late To Cry
When I’m alone with nothing to do
I sit at home thinking of you.
I’m all alone who can I turn to?
I’m feeling so blue I just want to tell you.

It’s too late to cry but I don’t know why I sigh
Is it too much to ask why you left my side?
It’s too late to cry but I don’t know why I sigh
Is it too much to ask why you left my side?

I speak your name everything fades,
I see your face the world turns to grey.
Just touch my lips all I want is one kiss,
Don’t you miss me just one little bit?

It’s too late to cry but I don’t know why I sigh
Is it too much to ask why you left my side?
It’s too late to cry but I don’t know why I sigh
Is it too much to ask why you left my side?

Why can’t I ever stop crying? Why am I always defying
What I was told to do, what I was told to do.

It’s too late to cry but I don’t know why I sigh
Is it too much to ask why you left my side?
It’s too late to cry but I don’t know why I sigh
Is it too much to ask why you left my side?

You hide from your lies
Tell me, I’m your cherry pie.
I turn into smoke when you kiss me babe
‘Cause deep down I’m your girl.
You made me believe
I was the better part of you.
But I was too weak to see past what you’d put me through
And now you’ve done it, you’ve dug yourself in the ground.

And I still see the same look in your face
Right where you lay, there to stay
Oh this could have gone a much better way
But you let me down, down to my 45.

White lace covered in candle wax,
Fireplace, coals burning black as black.
I cry, there’s no one to wipe my tears,
‘Cause I’ve done what I thought was right.
You covered your chest,
To protect yourself from the mess that I call my heart.
Take me from this place, fill my void with space,
It’s empty for you.

And I still see the same look in your face
Right where you lay, there to stay
Oh this could have gone a much better way
But you let me down, down to my 45.

You stole my heart, broke it in two, threw away my love for you.
You stole my heart, broke it in two, look where that got you.

And I still see the same look in your face
Right where you lay, there to stay
Oh this could have gone a much better way
But you let me down, down to my 45.

Whiskey and Lace

Written By: Flavia & The Red

Whiskey And Lace
You said you’d be mine through thick and thin
Preached your love to anyone who’d listen.
At your side, with a smile on my face
‘Cause God’s good grace had put me in this place.
Please don’t cry, my love is here to stay
Night after night, you’d tell me every day.
Time goes by, realization’s soaking in
But I stood by ‘cause your words were ringing.

I took the good with the bad I left the rest up to you,
I tried to close my eyes and see all the best there was in you.
I took the good with the bad and all you did was cheat me through,
And now you’re alone with whiskey and lace.

And I knew it was us against the world.
Our love grew, out of nowhere it unfurled.
But now you come home with the smell of something new,
Just goes to show how your lies they had me fooled.
Oh but I don’t have the strength to go
Oh ‘cause I can’t forget the love we used to know
Let me be yours, like I was before
Pretend just one night that our love could re-ignite.

I took the good with the bad I left the rest up to you,
I tried to close my eyes and see all the best there was in you.
I took the good with the bad and all you did was cheat me through,
And now you’re alone with whiskey and lace.

So say goodnight, my love, don’t say you tried my love.
I stood by while your love, took me for granted.
And now you’ll cry my love, this time’s no lie my love,
Don’t say you’re sorry, ‘cause I’ve gone to whiskey and lace.

I took the good with the bad I left the rest up to you,
I tried to close my eyes and see all the best there was in you.
I took the good with the bad and all you did was cheat me through,
And now you’re alone with whiskey and lace.

Perhaps a Little Later

Written By: Flavia & The Red

Perhaps A Little Later
I’m walking home on my own and a man stops me in the street.
He says, “Hey there little lady”, I don’t want his company.
But he begs at my feet, he insists and persists.
Get up off of your knees and tell me what you want from me.

He said: “Baby won’t you come on down and party with me?
Baby won’t you come down?”
“Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby won’t you come down”
I said, “Perhaps a little later, perhaps a little later.”

I’m tired tonight so the time is not right,
To talk me into your life, no matter what you’ve got to say,
You may be a smooth talker, a mighty fine walker,
But nothing can change, the way I’m feeling.

“Baby won’t you come on down and party with me?
Baby won’t you come down?” He said:
“Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby won’t you come down”
I said, “Perhaps a little later, perhaps a little later.”

I got the z-z-z-z-z-z-z’s and I’m ready to sleep,
So let me be, go back to your party.
I got the z-z-z-z-z-z-z’s, I don’t want no company,
I’m a little bit cranky, so go back to your party,
With out me…

Oh “Baby won’t you come on down and party with me?
Baby won’t you come down?”
“Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby won’t you come down”
I said, “Perhaps a little later, perhaps a little later.”
Oh but I don’t want to go down and party with you,
I don’t want to go down,
I don’t want to go down and party with you, no, no, no, no, no, no.
I say “Perhaps a little later”, but really I mean never…
