"London trio Flawes make one of the year’s most intriguing debuts with “Don’t Wait For Me” [Premiere]"

Flawes announce themselves with a clever finger-tapping acoustic guitar riff made all the more intriguing by the electronic embellishments that ensure that no human could ever replicate it, but "Don't Wait For Me" is far from folktronica. Josh Carruthers' sinewy falsetto falls all over muscular bass en route to one of the most intriguing debuts of the year.

Carruthers explains: "This is loosely autobiographical and based on a time I found myself dating a girl and didn't really know where I stood having being sent mixed messages. It goes through me making my mind up and deciding to end the relationship. I was no longer going to come running. 'Please don't stumble and fall to your knees'; Even if they did try and beg for forgiveness and try work things out, I had already made up my mind and nothing is going to change that."

Be sure to catch Flawes at their first London show at Hoxton Square 19 October. Their debut EP, UNSPKN, is set for release 23 October.

Carruthers is a collaborator of pop sensation Ella Eyre, and plays in her live band as a keyboardist.

"FLAWES - 'Don't Wait For Me'"

Rising trio FLAWES have an adept line in production, but also remember to bring along plenty of pop hooks.
Matching languid, gorgeous electronic arrangements with a tinge of R&B to soaring, emotive vocals, FLAWES are reminiscent of James Blake's more direct moments or even London Grammar.
New track 'Don't Wait For Me' is taken from upcoming EP 'Unspkn', and it's a vivid introduction to their potent charm. Clash is able to premiere the accompanying video, and it perfectly matches those deeply personal lyrics.
Representing the feeling of letting go at the end of a relationship, the video features the lead (played by Sebastian Sacco) walking away from his partner (played by Amy Von Crawford).
Produced by FlexFilm and Directed by ThatJam, it was filmed on location in Lytham Saint Annes and also features Bud and Aiden Brennan Williams.

"Flawes signs to Red Bull Records re-release debut EPs ‘CTRL’ & ‘UNSPKN’"

— Adele Roberts, BBC Radio 1

Red Bull Records is pleased to announce the addition of FLAWES to its roster. Today, the London trio are re-releasing their previously self-released debut EPs, ‘UNSPKN’ and ‘CTRL’, which garnered critical acclaim from the press with Line of Best Fit touting UNSPKN to be “one of the most intriguing debuts of the year” and The 405 hailing that the trio “have constructed something big so early on.”

“Red Bull Records couldn’t be happier to welcome FLAWES to the Red Bull Records family,” says Managing Director Greg Hammer. “In the short time since forming late last year the band have made a significant mark and we look forward to helping them continue on their path to success.”

Since their inception in late 2015 FLAWES’ early career has taken off explosively with two successful EPs under their belt as well as a sold out London debut show and UK tours with Ella Eyre and Safia. Their debut single “Don’t Wait For Me” landed a spot on BBC Radio 1’s “Introducing Track of the Week,” entered the Spotify Viral Chart at #8, was including on Huw Stephens “BBC Introducing: Best of the Year” playlist, and is used on the new trailers for hit TV series Lie To Me.

Having spent years honing their crafts, childhood friends Josh Carruthers and Josh (Huss) Hussey alongside guitarist Freddie Edwards came together, whilst all working as session musicians, to start on a project that reflected their own musical ambitions. The outcome was minimalist, pop influenced EPs with soaring vocals and dark bass synths. Sat firmly in the alt-pop genre, the band’s content is often based around real life experiences and evokes real emotion from the start.

“Having started FLAWES a year ago, to now be in the position of signing to one of the best indie labels, is a huge privilege,” says FLAWES. “The team are like family and we feel they totally understand and share the goals we have for the band. We have all been working as session musicians for the past few years and have worked hard to get to a place where we can push our own project forward. We are confident that with our vision and the incredible experience over at Red Bull Records this can be the start of something very special for FLAWES.” - Pop Inquirer

Bio

2016 has already seen FLAWES release their second EP, ‘CTRL’ , with support from The 405, The Independent, Sunday Brunch, Spotify, NME, Record of The Day and Music Week. The band have already played multiple shows including selling out their debut headline at The Sebright Arms (London). Looking forward, FLAWES will play at a host of festivals this year with more music on the horizon.

Beginning in 2015, FLAWES' early career took off explosively. Debut single 'Don't Wait For Me' is continuing to amass thousands of streams weekly and has had support from across the board with a BBC Introducing / Radio 1 playlist, Line of Best Fit, Notion, Clash and New York Times online mentions and it's debut entry on the Spotify UK Viral Chart at #8. FLAWES spent the end of November supporting Ella Eyre on her UK tour.

Having spent years honing their crafts, childhood friends Josh Carruthers and Josh (Huss) Hussey alongside guitarist Freddie Edwards came together, whilst all working as session musicians, to start on a project that reflected their own musical ambitions. The outcome was a minimalist, pop influenced EP with soaring vocals and dark bass synths. Sat firmly in the alt-pop genre, the band's content is often based around real life experiences and evokes real emotion from the start. The live show helps to take the songs to the next level with perfectly executed live arrangements and visual production that is both simplistic and effective.
