Bio

Flee Boy Academy (FBA), is a hip-hop/rap group based out of Long Island, NY. The group consists of 4 emcees:  Flee Boy Dee, Flee Boy Clev, Flee Boy Troy, and Flee Boy Tah Money.

The formation of FBA began with Flee Boy T.R.O.Y. (Tough, Rough, Original, Youngin’). He was inspired to become an emcee after the emotional passing of his beloved grandmother. Prior to her death, they conversed for hours about family, life, and music. Troy promised his grandmother that he would get his high-school diploma, and she told him, “You can accomplish anything you put your mind to accomplish, but you have to accomplish it the right way.” A few months later, Troy’s grandmother had a stroke and died.

Troy was sad, and for months he mourned the death of his grandmother. But through hip-hop, he was able to channel his misery and pain by recording “Through The Wire,” a song dedicated to his late grandmother, a few weeks before obtaining his high-school diploma. In the song, Troy made his grandmother another promise-to win a Grammy Award, and shortly afterwards, his best friend Denzel, introduced Troy to his oldest brother-Zangba Thomson, and immediately after hearing Troy’s lyrical skill, Zangba signed Troy to Bong Mines Entertainment LLC (BMELLC), and Troy became the first member of FBA.

A few days later, Flee Boy Dee, who was inspired by his older brother-Zangba Thomson to become an emcee, signed to BMELLC and became FBA’s second member. But prior his signing, Dee, an academically gifted emcee, wisely made the right decision to merge his academic smarts with his lyrical wits, and his heavy baritone voice with his savvy punch line delivery. The result, not only established Dee as an asset to FBA, but also allowed him to become a poster child for smart lyricism.

Around that same time, Dee’s best friend-Flee Boy Clev, inspired by the Dipset to become an emcee, was being challenged by a rival emcee to a rap battle. Clev agreed, and after spitting 16 bars of death, the battle was over before it begun. Word spread quickly throughout the neighborhood that Clev was a lyrical force to be reckoned with. Dee, sensing a newfound confident in his friend, approached Clev with an offer to become FBA’s third member. Clev agreed, and shorty afterwards, he signed to BMELLC as one of the most feared emcee in Roosevelt, NY.

Meanwhile, at Bong Mines Recording Studios, Tah Money, a Brooklyn emcee, was working on his demo with Zangba Thomson. Zangba asked Tah to become the fourth member of FBA; Tah agreed, and after signing to BMELLC, Tah told his FBA team members, “At the age of 4, my father was shot to death. My uncles, Steven and Jimmy, were my father figures. My Uncle Steven was an emcee, and I was his No. 1 fan.  He was murdered during a dice game, and ever since then, I’ve been following in his lyrical footsteps.”

Tah’s pain and hunger, when mixed with Troy’s swag and delivery, Dee’s intelligence, and Clev’s powerful punch lines, equates to great hip-hop music. Four emcees, each young, gifted, and black, are representatives of the collegiate lifestyle, good times, and the urban high-life. With their latest mixtape-“Hottest of the Summer,” heating up the mixtape market, FBA speaks directly to the global youth, and they are considered important voices of their generation.
