How many adult contemporary acts live double lives?
Wigs, leather pants and handle-bar mustaches are all part of a days work as Garen and Alfred play roles of "Duff" and "Slash" in The Project, a tribute to Velvet Revolver.
With enough stories to do a Spinal Tap revival, glam-rock performances will have to take a back seat to Flicker, a project that has been in the back of Garen's mind for most of the past decade.
After experimenting with genres such as singing in a French-punk band to meditational ambient sounds, the singer-songwriter, has finally come full circle with himself and his music.
Backed by a solid team of musicians and life-long friendships, Flicker forms nothing less than a tightly knit family to be reckoned with.
Iris Campo, the meanest 95-pounder to hit the skins, is incomparable with her angelic vocal harmonies and to-the-point beats. Currently backing other projects such as The Adam Brown, Iris is quickly becoming a hot commodity for any band trying to catch the attention of industry sharks in today's over-saturated market
Alfred Jozikian fills the void with his hypnotic licks and catchy solos that remind us what a lead guitar was meant to be. A sound that can be best described as a menage-à-trois between Santana, Slash and The Edge adds a much needed dimension to Flicker.
And last but certainly not least, Arden Arapyan, modestly one of the top jazz protégés this town has to offer, is currently leading a list of finalists for Best New Jazz Composer according to Couleur Jazz 91.9FM. Quite a feat by a freshman in a town drenched with talent and diversity. The guru juggles between a bass and a piano to round up the flicker sound.
What sets Flicker apart?
They don't try to be cool or follow a fad. They're just who they are and their music speaks that truth. They'll make you sit back and enjoy their songs, maybe make you cry here and there and when you least expect it, you'll laugh your ass off with their between song antics and pseudo stand-up comedy.
