"Flickershow has what it takes to make new fans"

"I was absolutely blown away when they started to play... Their lyrics were smart, their music was melodic, but what struck me most was the singing. Their voices were boyishly sweet and their harmony was crisp and quite mesmerizing.

"Their most memorable song, coincidentally the last song of the evening, was 'Gold Thieves', which they played at the request of the audience. Shouts came from all over the cafe, demanding 'just one more song!'

"And so they played, just one more song. I'm generally not a sucker for soft, flowing music, preferring the fast, repetitive and heavy beats of contemporary electronic music, but even so, Flickershow had me hanging on every chord." - TO-nite magazine, 21 Oct 2004

Bio

As Flickershow, Julian Sark and Eli McIlveen have been winning over Toronto audiences with their soaring harmonies and smart lyrics for close to five years. With influences such as the Trash Can Sinatras, Elvis Costello and Belle & Sebastian, their music combines heartfelt songwriting with charming, memorable pop.

Having met in high school, they reunited under the Flickershow banner in 1999. Since then they've penned dozens of original tunes, honing their songcraft and arrangements in the process, and played at various venues around Toronto. Added in 2004, drummer Clark Allore (The Shoeflies, Janus) is the newest member of the Flickershow cast.

Flickershow's debut CD "Stars For Searchlights" was released in 2003, and another is in the works for 2005.
