"Flicks Crush on Hayley"

Brisbane pop-punk act Flicks are back with their new single “Hayley.”

The fun track is an ode to Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams. It imagines what the Flicks lads would do if they ever scored a date with their dream woman. And apparently it has the seal of approval from Hayley Williams’ real life squeeze, Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory!

“It was funny, because we met her boyfriend backstage at their recent Brisbane show and he didn’t want to kill us for writing a song about his girlfriend!!” they said. No death is always a good thing!

The rocking tune was produced by Todd Morse (The Offspring, Juliette and the Licks) and mixed by Grant Wallis of Aneiki (anyone out there remember “Pleased to Meet You?”).

The band will play shows around Queensland in June to support the release of “Hayley.” The Brisbane quartet says we can expect an energetic set.

“We just love jumping around and getting in the crowd’s face. We spend along time practising making sure everything is perfect. We also enjoy terrible jokes.”

Bio

Flicks originally started as a 3 piece Pop/Rock Band from Brisbane, Australia, which formed in late 2007. They worked hard writing and crafting their live performance playing 100 school shows over the next 2 years.

In 2009 Flicks commenced writing their first radio single Hayley, which was inspired by the lead singer of Paramore and all-around-hottie, Hayley Williams. Produced by Todd Morse (H20, The Offspring, Juliette Lewis) it was recorded at the Grove Studios in Gosford, Australia and was handed personally by the band to Hayley’s boyfriend Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory (who took it with no jealousy or animosity).

In 2010, Flicks recruited a new band member adding a slightly meatier sound with rhythm guitar/synth/gameboy and backing vocals. Flicks started the year with an extensive tour of Queensland with Short Stack and then headed south to NSW and Victoria for shows with Amy Meredith and Tonight Alive. They recently completed their own 3-week headlining tour of Regional Qld in June. Having returned from touring, the band signed a record deal with Spitfire/Difrnt Records and filmed a video clip for their first single. “Hayley” has a unique sound that consists of fun energetic Pop/Rock and euphoric electronic riffs that sets Flicks aside from other bands.

With Hugh Wheeler on drums, Adam Milad on guitar/lead vocals, Michael Thomas on bass/vocals and Andy Francis on guitar/synth/gameboy/backing vocals – Flicks are an upcoming band with their sights set on an international career in music. Watch out for the single which dropped on July 23rd! The film clip is being spun on Video Hits, The Hit List TV, Landed Music, and Rage.
