Float Parade

Radio Jacaranda - South Africa ?

Feeling a bit camera shy

Float Parade, conjures visions of Madi Gras, Spring week at the local Varsity, Holidays, fun times shared with loved ones and close friends. Vivid, colourful, at times crazy, experiences, all these sights, smells, sounds and feelings are what the band portray in this Self titled debut album.

Float Parade members hail from the tiny towns dotting the gold reefs of South Africa. The songwriting reflects a passion for the elements of creation that surround him. " the moon's burning red in the sky, from the sun on the opposite side..." lyrics like these put the listener right in his world, experiencing the moments first hand. The easy, flowing melodies are catchy yet interresting, always leaving room for the music to breathe. Some of the songs are soaked in dream like settings, of young lovers in open fields, while others bring you into the bustle of the city life, ever moving and bright.

There are common themes throught the Float Parade albums lyrics and music, namely passion and love. For the music, for the people, for the feel of the rythmns, Thean Heynecke brings a solid groove through on the Bass, playing standard electric bass and the more sweeping upright bass. The relationship between drums and Bass is the push and pull of the ocean tide always complemetary, sometimes subdued and other times ferocious. Hugo Radyn brings his love of rythmn into the mix, swopping through solid rock beats, grass roots shuffle, through to bossa novas and Sambas. The puppet master with his two sticks!

Sure to keep the listener entwined and entertained, the music is a journey of groove and poetry and soul
