Fingernails hit strings or wood alike, giving an often percussive sound and beat. Capos come, slide and go. Strings buzz, twang or break. Defying definition, FLOATSTONE's audiences have compared him to all of these names:
Joni Mitchell, Tom Waits, Morissey, Ry Cooder, Andy McKee, Neil Young, Jack Johnson, Luka Bloom, John Martyn, Raul Midón, Chris Whitley
FLOATSTONE is currently recording his debut CD and producing his own video clips to a choice of tracks on the album.
The CD will be released in the spring of 2012. He will be joined by two top class jazz musicians. Kristof Roseeuw on double bass and cello and Danny Van Hoeck on percussion.
Following the release concerts they will be playing a small release tour at selected venues in Belgium and the Netherlands and will travel to New Orleans and Austin to give the States a taste of what his music is all about.
FLOATSTONE is Brick de Bois’ musical alter ego.
It’s a platform to release Songs from the Soul in the Language of the Heart.
A return to musical roots, to the pure Art of song writing.
Not for the faint of heart, but then again...

Lyrics

The One Thing

Written By: Brick de Bois

i can’t breathe since i met ya
i can’t sleep since i slept with ya
u caught me in my danger zone
you bought me a drink and said
baby I am all alone

i can’t eat since i ate ya
no haste when i taste ya
u say baby baby give me more
take me all the way
cuz i have never been there before
u say
take my heart
take it slowly
take it thoroughly apart

i am sweet up against u
and u hope we can just be friends too
I say baby baby that’s alright
cuz i figure it’s never gonna be more than tonight
don’t say
take my heart
take it slowly
take it thoroughly apart

goodbye
i am skipping breakfast
just lie down there
i wish u all the best
baby baby got a little news
there’s only one thing that surely gives me the blues
when u say
take my heart
take it slowly
take it thoroughly apart

Lucky Star

Written By: Brick de Bois

LUCKY STAR

i got used to ur silence
i think it means a lot
i can leave u on ur island
it’s like a place the world forgot

and i don’t mind keeping my distance
i don’t need a closer look
i’ll just sit here u by the fire
keep my nose inside my book

u see
i believe that i can see
inside u
from afar
and i believe that all in u
is true
my lucky star

u say it’s all about timing
that this moment is not the next
u say the beauty is in the lining
and never in the text

so go ahead and climb in ur tree hut
i’ll just sit here against the bark
and it’s ok to keep ur door shut
i’ll still be here after dark

Crayfish

Written By: Brick de Bois

CRAYFISH

I can see myself
worn and old under this tree
i can feel my dog
he’s fast asleep he put his head down on my feet

o let us be forever
in this state of grace with the sunlight on our face
o let us be forever
my dog and me in our natural way

late last night
i woke up went outside and saw the stars
they were vast and pretty
in the city we just put them in a jar

o let us be forever
in this state of grace with the star light on our face
o let us be forever
my dog and me in our natural way

on the bottom of the river
under the water crystal clear
i saw a crayfish hard and brittle
he’s just like me and my dog we belong here

o let us be forever
in this state of grace with the sunlight on our face
o let us be forever
my dog and me in our natural way

The Apple and The Tree

Written By: Brick de Bois

THE APPLE AND THE TREE

i fed my mother a dinner
she is slowly losing her mind
she’s growing smaller,
she’s growing thinner
she feels she’s doing is time

i wrote my brother a letter
he’s far away he don’t know what’s going on
i tell him i hope he’s feeling better
i tell him to hold on,
i tell him to be strong

I have a sister in Brooklyn
she’s smart, she’s beautiful and she is gone
she sends me thoughts,
she sends me kisses
I wish she would find out where she belongs

just like me
like me
the apple and the tree

i am gonna see my father
he broke his ribs, he broke his neck, i broke his heart
he says stay home boy,
why would u bother
unless u enjoy watching a man fall apart

just like me
like me
the apple and the tree

somebody told me that i have wings of leather
that all they are good for is to do wrong
i am telling u i wish that i had wings with feathers
so i could lift myself up out of this song

that’s just like me
like me
the apple and the tree

Birthday Present

Written By: Brick de Bois

BIRTHDAY PRESENT

today was rainy
today was cold
today was my birthday
i turned forty-nine years old

a good friend called me
said u got all u need
but if there is something i can do for someone else
to please u then what would it be

and i said
free Ang San Suu Kyi

he said
what u r asking
we’ve all been asking for
for twenty long years now
or even more

he said
i don’t think i can can pull this one off for u
but i’ll be damned if i don’t give it a try
i will see what i can do

to free Ang San Suu Kyi

we said goodbye and i went on with my day
i spent it in solitude cuz i had nothing to say

and late in the evening my friend was calling me
he said turn on ur tv-set and tell me what u see

ur birthday present is in the news today
birthday present swept my blues away

free Ang San Suu Kyi

and they did
