Biography

It's an adjective used to describe a person or event. Someone who is acting cheap, arrogant, self-centered, superior to others, snobbish, or as a jerk, they are a Floog.

Perhaps, the most common stereotype of a rock band??

But in reality, FLOOG is an awesome combination of Reggae, Folk, Rock and Pop. They are a band that prides themselves on the perfect balance of entertainment and musicianship. Their high-energy live performances include almost no down time between songs. Not only that, but their interactions with the crowd are sure to get people dancing and singing along in no time. This is a band which truly appreciates the fans, and it shows. An amazing core following has really done them well, as they have played packed shows at Sly Fox in Wheatland, Mickey Finns in Libertyville and the Brat Stop in Kenosha as well as many other venues, and they have established a good working relationship with all of these places. Their Summer 2010 included a number of performances at venues and festivals from Chicago to Milwaukee, and many places in between. One of these included a spot as a supporting act for Sublime w/ Rome, Matisyahu, and The Dirty Heads for their performance at The Rave.

Lead singer and guitarist Jeff Pfleuger is the main songwriter of the group. He is known for his catchy wordplay, as well as his sometimes dark and haunting lyrics. He also sets the overall high-energy tone of the band. The rhythm section consists of Kevin Welker (Drums) and Jerome Johnson (Bass). The combination of Welker's creativity and controlled fury on drums, along with Johnson's funky yet melodic basslines provide the perfect foundation for lead guitarist and music guru, Jim Walski. Jim knows exactly when to get the crowd reeling with a blistering solo, or when to slow things down, blending notes together in a way which you simply have to hear for yourself.

Upon attending one festival, Kenosha News had this to say :

"... 62nd annual festival on Saturday, July 11... Entertainment included the band Floog. They had the festival dancing the night away! Floog is an original and cover band from Kenosha county. They have rock, reggae, and folk influences..."-Kenosha News

Bar Church

Written By: Floog

Sunday morning... keep my prayers
VERSE
Standing in the drive and that snow is melting round my shoes
End of a weekend that's a blur from the booze
Something bout this day that can make me feel more alive
My knee wont stop bouncin unless I go for a ride
Tip my hat to the patrons because they are my congregation
My pew is a stool where I earn my salvation
CHORUS
Bar church on Sunday .. Bloody Mary's get me by
Bar church on Sunday.. It is that that I rely
And I could stop this drinking and sit back and observe
But there is only one thing that really soothes my nerves
Bar church on Sunday
Bar church on Sunday
VERSE
Go around town come on now baby
to another joint to the point a couple more maybes now
With these girls you know the scenery is good
but I don't think I'll try but I know that I could now
Not much time to get in my religion
and the day that I converted was my worst damn decision
Can't talk got to finish this glass
need to get enough in before midnight mass now
CHORUS

Difference

Written By: Floog

VERSE
The blind man and the kind man were at the bus stop
If my wisdom was like water I would just have a drop
and the blind man said sit son and he told me a riddle
and the kind man said you know we got to meet in the middle
We don't think the same and we got our strife but we got nobody to blame
wrong or right is it me or you we're similar in the ways in which we differ in views
CHORUS
Its a difference in opinion certainties are unknown
Its that difference that could make your and my thoughts our own
And it will frustrate us and it may irritate us
But its that difference that could make your and my thoughts our own
VERSE
Saw you down at the water throw a penny in the lake
If you're wishing for an answer you have made a mistake
And the sun was setting down and the colors left from the sky
As you walked up to me I just let out this sigh
We don't think the same and we got our strife and we got nobody to blame
Wrong or right is it me or you we are similar in the ways in which we differ in views
CHORUS

City of Wine

Written By: Floog

Bye Bye let him take you away
I try try not to make you stay
My intentions are bottled up tight and they're sideways on a rack
The curtains don't hide the street lights and the dawn it is coming back
The city is sleeping for the first time I felt alone before I'm waiting for a busy time
The body of wine is just the kind that makes me think of yours next to mine
And I'm going nowhere fast And I'm filling up my glass
It started sweet and now its dry ever since you said goodbye
CHORUS
Drowning in this city of wine
Ask me how I'm feeling and I'll tell you just fine
But all I got is numbness of you on my mind
Drowning in this city of wine
VERSE
Why why is all I say
Sigh sigh its just another day
The city streets are crawling up and down with everyone that looks like you
I turn around I thought I heard you calling but I knew that its not true
My ambition is corked for eternity and all I do is play that your not a concern to me
Wearing Cashmere sweaters reading old love letters anything that makes me feel better
And I'm going nowhere fast And I'm filling up my glass
It started sweet and now its dry ever since you said goodbye
CHORUS
BRIDGE
Can't remember the look of your face and all I will have left is this taste to embrace
Come around and drink another bottle down Come around and drink another bottle down
Can't remember the look of your face and all I will have left is this taste to embrace
Repeat:
CHORUS

Worries Far Away

Written By: Floog

VERSE
Well I got my porch light on and I'm singing a song about the ones that can't do me wrong
Nothing like a summer night to sit back and reflect about things going good in my life
Strumming with the beat of the bass of the car driving by that is grooving and just the right pace
And they start to gather around because they hear my guitar and there ears seem to follow that sound
Kids are racing right on by they check there watches and fly so they don't need an alibi
The party is hoppin inside and we surround ourselves with good people good friends and good times
When the wind chimes
CHORUS
Summer breeze I need to thank you for giving me this day
With lots of laughter that begins after the blues of winter have gone away
Summer breeze I need to thank you for giving me this day
We need those good vibes in our tough lives blow those worries far away
VERSE
Put another log on the fire lets get a little bit higher before its time to retire
There is still the smell of barbecue the taste of lemonade that mixes well with whatever you choose
And we got our stories to tell although we know them so well we laughed so hard I almost fell
But all good things must come to an end the secret handshakes from friends
Thank you that you could attend
As the pillow hits my head and I lie here in bed thinking of all the good things they said
With the window open wide and gentle wind from outside makes me think of all the good times
When the wind chimes
CHORUS

Lament

Written By: Floog

VERSE
Did you conform today did you take your commands and obey
Everyone has a price to pay did you bunt instead of swing away
I'm subpoenaed just like the rest lets take a look at the docket
I get ready for my test and I carry round an apple in my pocket
PRECHORUS
We are all whores in our own way
Everyday
My values and yours went astray
I need to say
CHORUS
Adapt like a Chameleon or get eaten
Sport your brown nose in every meeting
Why do we live our life this way.... In this disarray
VERSE
Walking round on pins and needles
They are a big shoe and I am a beetle
Games of tug of war and we pull
Ourselves away from ever standing tall
I have my chin to my chest eyes on the ground just like the rest
Don't argue or contest because what I've found it is not our place to suggest
PRECHORUS
CHORUS
Why do we live our lives this way.... In this disarray
PRECHORUS
CHORUS

Ride On

Written By: Floog

Railroad cars are running down the tracks
Take a ride on anything to not come back
Young girl with long dark hair
Said she'd take a ride to almost anywhere
So I told her to hop on up
How far can we get in this pick up truck
Have you been to see the coast she said east or west
I said which you like the most
Cause I'm sick of this town every night
And I know I don't know you but it just feels right
Lets..
Chorus
Ride On
We don't have to come back for so long
We don't have to think if its right or wrong
You're not alone.. Lets..
Ride On
Find a small place to call our home
We don't have to think of its right or wrong
You're not alone
VERSE
Its been about five years now
Don't know where we're going when or how
When your young things are not what they seem
You can only smoke so long from a small pipe dream
But would you trade it for the same routine
All the places we have gone all the things we have seen
We could get away again
I got a full tank of gas and nothing for a plan
We know that times get tough
But time with you there will never be enough
Lets...
Chorus
Ride On
Ride On
