Four-piece Floor Thirteen from Winnipeg are an energetic, working definition of a what a summer singles band should be. (listen on POWER 97 for their winning single, "Bright Light Rockin' City" for proof in point) But expect them to also have an impact in colder seasons, as they put the finishing touches on songs from their next album.

It wasn’t Canada Day but the MTS Centre was plenty patriotic Friday night as five Canadian bands rocked downtown Winnipeg during Power 97’s annual Power Ball.
Floor 13, Crystal Pistol, Stripper’s Union, Danko Jones, and headliners Our Lady Peace took turns thrilling 8,500 rock fans in the nearly 5 hour Can-Con marathon.
Local boys Floor 13 kicked things off with a quick 20-minute set just before 7:00. Thanks to a track on Power 97’s most recent Class of … release, Floor 13 has enjoyed steady radio play and a growing fan base. Although MTSC patrons continued to stream in throughout the opening set, the crowd was supportive of the Class of 2005 studs.

This four piece, hard-rockin' crew came of age in the wrong decade. Their blistering brand of '70s era guitar-driven rock 'n' roll absolutely steamrolled anything and everything that was foolish enough to get in its way.
The crowd at the Kathedral might've been sparse, but these guys played like they were in front of tens of thousands. With guitar and bass frequently thrust skyward, and everyone in the band leaping around the stage like rabbits on meth, it was the theatrics of lead singer Jeremy Koz that took centre stage. Decked out in tails, Koz has already got the rock star posturing down to a science, at one point he hit the dais floor and wailed into his mic while writhing around on his back, slowly making his way to his feet. Over the top? You bet. Amazing nonetheless? Definitely.
These guys parlay hard-edged guitars with big, big solos and pounding four-on-the-floor drums into a gloriously sweaty, stinking, punk garage rock party. Who care's if it's a little derivative, these guys do it really well. While all seem very competent in their playing, there's a finely tuned shamble to the whole thing that makes it all the more propulsive. Though Koz's strained wail did occasionally get a little lost amongst all the thunderous musicianship, most of the time it carreened like a welcome explosion of razorblades and shards of glass.
It's always impressive when a band can sustain such a high level of energy throughout even the shortest of sets. It's even more impressive when you can get people dancing when there's only a handful in attendance in the first place. Floor Thirteen did both. These guys didn't so much as pause to catch their breath, but with the almost non-existent breaks in between songs, tracks started to bleed into one another towards the end of the set, not such a bad thing though when the songs rocked that hard as the band seemed to feed off of each other's seemingly boundless enthusiasm - Chart Attack Magazine

Floor Thirteen's song Blame It On Me was licensed to major video game company Electronic Arts near the end of 2008. Since then, EA has placed the song in top selling game franchises Need For Speed and The Sims. Both games are played by millions across 30 different countries. Since the release of their debut full-length album Mmmm!, Floor Thirteen has been turning up in more than just games. Blame It On Me popped up on George Stroumboulopoulos 'The Strombo Show', radio stations across North America and tons of fan made videos shared online. EA even used Blame It On Me backing their official promo video for Need For Speed: Undercover. Shortly after, the band headed to the U.K. to showcase in London, England. A few months later they headed to Los Angeles where they had played a number of shows including a packed room at the world famous Whisky A Go Go. Floor Thirteen has been the Featured Artist on the internationally syndicated import radio show Passport Approved which airs all over the U.S. and has a presence in Germany and the U.K. They have also been nominated for an L.A. Music Award for their song Let it Go and have had a few songs featured on US and Canadian television, movies and in an online promotion for Mazda Canada. Most Recently, they've won the honour of being voted #1 in rock on ourstage.com, once again with their song Blame it On Me. Floor Thirteen is ready for some more success with new material and are releasing an EP "Neon Lights" in November 2011.
