- João Gobern in revista "Sábado", 12 August 2010.

Bio

The beginning of Flor-de-Lis is closely linked to the participation of Pedro Marques as a percussionist in the "Adufe", initially conceived by José Salgueiro as a spectacle for the Expo-98 which showed to the audience the traditional Portuguese instrument.

The success allowed to several national and international dates between 1999 and 2000, prompting the musician Pedro Marques a willingness to explore the richness of Portuguese music, combining elements of world music.

The project begins to take shape in 2001 with the participation of musicians in recording sessions, including Paulo Pereira, who has remained ever since in puffs.

In recent years, the skeletons of several songs arose naturally, a process that involved various approaches and instruments.

The band now presents not only the original song lyrics from Pedro Marques and Daniela Varela, but also poems of Eugenio de Andrade, José Regio, Ary dos Santos, David Mourão-Ferreira and Maria José de Castro.

In 2009 Flor-de-Lis won the 45th RTP Portuguese Song Festival with the theme "Todas as Ruas do Amor", representing Portugal in Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow and reaping excellent national and international reactions.
