Florence K

Florence K's passion for music may have been ignited in utero. She was born to an opera singer mother and a guitarist-composer father. Music was predominant at home and at a very young age Florence began to accompany her parents to rehearsals, studio sessions and shows. By the time she was six she had performed on television for the first time. At sixteen she was singing duets with her mother and performing internationally on tour. During her communication studies, Florence played piano at Stash Café. Fascinated by World Music, she listened to and played pop, blues and jazz. Soon she began to perform in Atlantic City, Casablanca, Malaga, Hanoi and Monaco. Here she discovered a passion for songwriting, and began to seduce audiences around the world with her incredible voice and virtuosity on the piano.

Florence K writes music and sings in French, English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. In May 2006, she released her first studio effort "Bossa Blue",which soon became the Album of the summer and was certified Gold only six months after it was out- it has since gone Platinum. The debut single "Las Calles Del Sur" was the radio song of this past summer on both Rythme FM and Rock Détente and the video, shot in Havana, was number one on MusiMax.

Florence K has been busy performing across Canada, Europe and several other international territories. In August 2007 her first album “Bossa Blue”was launched in Toronto with a stellar performance at The Court House. In November the album was released in France, Belgium and Switzerland on Exclaim/Warner and in 2008 she has toured both France and the UK appearing at the prestigious Isle of Wight Festival.

On November 6th Florence K released her 2nd album “La Historia de Lola” which has already gone to #1 in album sales at Archambault - Quebec’s largest music retailer and CD has debuted at #2 on Canadian Independent Soundscan Chart.

florence K is a recipient of the Felix award for “Best World Album 2007” for “Bossa Blue”. She also picked up 4 awards at the “S.O.B.A Awards” for “Contemporary Artist of the Year”, “Francophone Song of the Year”, “Francophone Artist of the Year”, and “Francophone Song of the Year” for “Vol De Nuit”.
