The sounds of classic soul records spinning in the ears of a young girl coupled with the aroma of home-cooked southern food created the perfect recipe for the beginnings of a rap career that will shine for years to come. Such is the life of FLOWEAZY, a talented rapstress whose musical influences range from the life-changing ballads of Aaliyah, to Ludacris's creativity and knack for wordplay. Growing up in the church, with a musically inclined family background and support system, FLOW has taken Chicago's urban recording industry by storm since her arrival to the Windy City in the Fall of 2005.
Spend a little time with FLOW and it's easy to see why she calls the studio her second home. Her family was floored by her talent at the early age of 14, having listened to her first recorded song and pledging their undying support ever since. As a young child raised in Mounds, IL and Dallas, TX, FLOW honed her performance skills in local talent competitions and by banging out lunch-table beats while spitting sixteens – to the amazement of her male counterparts. Today, her charisma and unflinching go-getter attitude have garnered her performance slots at numerous Chicago hotspots, including Exedus, Fiesta Cantina, and Funky Buddha Lounge.
FLOW's skills have placed her among the who's who of Columbia College Chicago students, where she is one of the members of FLYY CITY. Fellow Female Rapper, and major label recording artist Shawnna took notice of FLOW and her ability to not only assemble witty lyrics, but craft catchy songs at a studio session in Chicago; this moment has served to inspire and push FLOW to reach for the stars.
"You will only get out of life what you put into it. Dare to Create, Dare to Dream," – the words that FLOW lives by. With every bar she spits over ever beat she graces, her audience can hear those words personified. Flow's dynamic presence and undeniable talent are carving a lane that can't be hindered. With current records "Dat Boom" and "Juice and Vodka" creating massive local buzz, one can see that it's just the beginning for FLOW; the best is yet to come.
