Bio

Floyd Marcus is a songwriter, singer, performer and producer who from infancy was immersed in classical, jazz and pop music, as well as art, by his parents. He began hearing melodies and arrangements in his head as far back as he can remember. His father was an accomplished percussionist, pianist and vibraphonist. His father's twin brother Sol was not only a fine pianist, arranger, and co-writer of hit songs such as "Till Then" and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", but also a mentor who was quick to encourage Floyd’s songwriting abilities after hearing his early compositions.

As the face of the music industry continually changed, Floyd maintained his excitement for creating music that challenged him to explore the varied and shifting musical terrains. He's written and performed songs with a triple gold record bubblegum band, written a song for Jeff Conaway that was performed in a dream sequence on the TV show "Taxi", and has written and performed on his underground rock/pop album "Hanging by a Thread" with his Shadow Page Band. He can craft a song as easily for a soulful R&B artist as he can for a garage rock band.

Floyd has experienced both great joy and sadness that are expressed through his music and lyrics, which range from biting and sardonic rock to lush melodic ballads. Those who have seen him perform note his dynamic vocals, versatile guitar playing and rock solid drumming. However, he prefers to describe himself as a "tunesmith" in the tradition of his Uncle Sol.

Floyd Marcus is an artist with a never-ending enthusiasm for the next song and the next project, always interjecting new excitement and challenge into his music.
