"2007 - Best Hard Rock Band"

I get so confused when I listen to Flu. I'm like, "yeah, this is an awesome punk part!" And then they throw in some huge double bass drumming, and I'm like, "whoa, metal! I never expected this song to get this heavy!" And then all of a sudden they're all chanting lyrics as though they're all piling onto the microphone at a hardcore show, and I'm like & Well, you get the picture. Fresh off a huge bill of Sling Slang artists to play a Habitat for Humanity benefit show, Flu are stoked to be recording the follow-up to 2005's disc Amalgamation[For Love And Brother]. - Hartford Advocate

Bio

Flu, a pillar of Sling Slang Records’ new metal division 10 Foot Reach Records, has finally released their year-in-the-making album, “For Love and Brother.” This group of 11 songs truly does capture the band’s live-show power and intensity. The band, long known for its support for Connecticut’s local original music scene, has at long last given to its fans and friends what they have been waiting for -- Flu, Flu, and more Flu!

The 2007 Winner of the Hartford Advocate Grand Band Slam, Best Hard Rock Band formed in 1998 and signed with Sling Slang Records in 2002, and released their first full length CD, "Remedy" in January 2003. After their original drummer, Matt Frost, left the band for personal reasons, Mike Anderson (guitar/vocals) and Aron Uzanas (bass/vocals) continued to play shows with a fill-in drummer or as an acoustic duo, playing anywhere and everywhere, racking up thousands of touring miles!

In 2005, With the recent (and permanent) addition of Matt Peterson (drums/vocals), they ventured back into the studio to record their follow-up album, “Amalgamation,” a mix of the heavy and driving , notoriously Anderson/Uzanas guitar and bass riffs, searing lyrics and always intriguing, often dueling melodies... and, of course, Flu’s knack for great harmony lines. "For Love and Brother" now showcases the band’s growth and continuing ability to write some pretty cool songs!
