"Flying Accusations Now Arriving... Indie (2007)"

I’ve had the pleasure of hearing tastes of this group on CHLY,
followed by giving this CD a good listen in the comfort of my home
and that’s exactly what this CD is – a good listen! This music is
kitchen table comfortable with a bitter twist of reality and pinch of
tongue in cheek, my kind of recipe. The diversity of this CD provides
a buffet of flavours for the listener. You are taken over a shaky,
old-time covered bridge with the introductory track 'Call Me
Sweetheart' then switchbacked to a shout along chorus in 'Can’t
Live Like That' to full steam ahead with 'Lies, Halftruth and
Misinformation' then back to the station for a deep south 1930's (and
it sounds like it) chain gang ballad 'End of the Line" which I’m
sure for this band it is not .

The Flying Accusations train has not only Now Arrived, it's leaving the station with a full head of steam from my hometown no less. This debut CD is an all aboard YeeHaw and Whhoo Whhoo train ride. Count me in as a new passenger with a window seat, singing along in the Club Car.

"cusations - Now Arriving... Indie (2007)"

This recently released (July 07) debut CD by a group hailing from British Columbia, Canada is an impressive collection of original songs with a special old-timey, Americana feel. The album was Produced by Canadian music Icon David Essig, who managed to bring out the feel of this Band without the over-production so prevalent in many releases these days. This one's a toe-tapper for sure, with a few stunning tunes destined to be sung around campfires for years to come. I fully expect these accusations to be flying into many a listeners' ear. An impressive debut. I would not be surprised to find 'Now Arriving...' On many a DJ's "Best of 2007" lists.

"Live Review"

"The Flying Accusations have been one of the most talented and involving groups of musicians we have had the pleasure to host. They are consistently true to the roots of 'down home' musical form while investing their own unique spirit, innovation and humor; allowing the audience to reap the rewards. Thanks to gentlemen such as these, the circle will indeed remain unbroken."

"Vancouver Island Band Hits #1 on MySpace Charts"

Sept. 10, 2007, Nanaimo, BC Canada

Vancouver Island BC is chocked full of talented Musicians, all vying for recognition. It now appears, a local Roots band has taken a huge leap toward success. A Nanaimo BC based group called the 'Flying Accusations' have reached the number 1 spot in the Canadian MySpace music charts within both the 'Roots' and 'Americana' genres, plus currently sits at the number 9 position within the 'Acoustic' category as well.

Americana or Roots music, is becoming increasing popular and boasts such well known performers as Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams and Neil Young.

The Flying Accusations debut CD entitled 'Now Arriving...' has seen a very rapid rise in radio airplay and both digital plays and downloads since its release this past July. In little more than six weeks the CD has received national airplay on CBC, Sirius Satellite Radio, Galaxie Satellite Radio, Radio FM GOUD in Belgium, AmericanaOK broadcast from Leith Scotland, Radio Free Americana in the U.S., and will soon be added to playlists from radio stations in South Africa, England and the Netherlands. The band has also seen online sales of its CD travel to destinations such as Milano, Italy and Valencia, Spain.

The CD contains original songs all penned by members of the group. It was Produced by Canadian music icon David Essig, who recorded the band in his home studio on Protection Island, off the coast of Nanaimo. Essig, a veteran of the Canadian music industry has produced over 30 albums and recorded over a dozen of his own CD's to date.

This independent or 'indie' band, which is not signed to a record label, must have many an industry insider shaking their head in wonder as household musical names and Juno winners such as Sarah Harmer, Oscar Lopez, The Wailin' Jennys and Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Bruce Cockburn, all find themselves trailing behind this hitherto unknown Vancouver Island group, who tout themselves locally as 'Super Heroes of Torch and Twang.'

Band spokesperson and guitarist, Robert McCourty, was predictably honoured by the news. "It's really encouraging," said McCourty. "There is so much competition out there these days, it's becoming increasingly difficult to even get your music heard in the first place. MySpace has literally over a million musical artists. To be recognized as number one in Canada in two main categories says a lot about the music we write and play. The music has to stand on its own. It's wonderful to find out that people who are hearing our music for the very first time, certainly seem to like it. The response has been overwhelming."

Flying Accusations band members reside across Vancouver Island, including Victoria, Cobble Hill, Chemainus and two members from Nanaimo, making them a true Island-wide band. Now is seems, the rest of the world is finding out just how much talent Vancouver Island has to offer. The Flying Accusations debut album is currently available at CD Baby.com and on iTunes.
