Bio
The swing of the '30s and '40s is a subtle thing - but when you hear it done right it's hard to stop smiling - or dancing. Greg thought that the name "Flyin' Home" fit because "that's what it feels like" when the groove starts to soar.
Though we've known each other for over 20 years, we got together in 2006 to play that old timey jazz stuff that we all love, but were never allowed to play. We knew it had to be almost acoustic - Kerry plays mostly with brushes - and very tonal and melodic. In theory, it does mean at least one thing because it does have that swing.
Greg Scott is the veteran wind man, here on clarinet and piano, who keeps the band honest and knows everything about jazz history, and what's between the notes. He led three big or almost big bands in Philadelphia: "Good God" (fusion), Breakwater (Arista Records, Funk), "The Big Push" (new big band).
