"Flynnville Train - Redemption"

I love these guys! Nuff Said... no
wait, the page will look funny with
no words on it so I better elaborate
a bit. I had an opportunity, through
my friend Cody McCarver, to meet
the guys of Flynnville Train and
hear them perform live two years
ago at Fan Fair in Nashville.
Amazing, talented, down to earth
musicians and singers, can only
begin to describe this band from
Middletown, Indiana. They, and
their music, were still very new to
me at that time, but it didn't take
long for me to become a fan.
Flynnville Train is: Brian Flynn (lead
vocals), Brent Flynn (lead guitar,
vocals), Damon Michael (Bass),
Tommy Bales (Drums).
Flynnville Train's latest CD is titled
Redemption, although I must admit
I'm not sure where the titled comes from. So far I don't see anything these guy need to be redeemed of.
Like their first self-titled CD, this is full-throttle music with no fillers. Lead Singer Brian Flynn says; “Much
of the album we recorded on first take and that reinforces the emotion, the translation of our hearts in
each song.” It also solidifies the fact that bands that kick-ass live should be able to kick-ass in the studio
as well, and FT does.
The first official single from the new CD is at radio now, and you should be requesting "Preachin' To The
Choir". This is one of those blue-collar band relates big time to blue-collar fans, songs. Great message,
great song. And yes, CSO Radio is already playing it.
I love the cover of 70's group America's "Sandman," fantastic rendition. Other stand-out tunage on
Redemption include "Home", "Friend Of Sinners", "Tip A Can" and "Scratch Me Where I'm Itchin'".
Another song worth a little extra mention here is "Alright" featuring some vocals from former Georgia
Satellites lead singer Dan Baird... fun song! For editorial sake I won't mention every song, but suffice to
say I didn't find a stinker on the CD.
Flynnville Train is the modern incarnation of the music I grew up with, a cross between Willie & Waylon
and Lynyrd Skynyrd, George Jones and ZZ Top, Alabama and .38 Special... I think you get the idea.
Redemption is in stores today, 6/15/2010. By the way, if you ever get a chance to see FT live, don't miss
it. Oh and be sure you request "Red-Neckid", just trust me. So get to the station and get on board for your
Indiana country/rock indoctrination, cause this Train's-a-rollin' and you don't want to get left behind - Country Stars Online

Bio

Built in Indiana, Flynnville Train hails from Middletown, a small town, middle of nowhere part of the country with a big heart and their music is no exception. With each member bringing different influences to the mix, ranging from Waylon Jennings to Jimi Hendrix, Flynnville Train brings country home.

Channeling an era of southern rock reminiscent of the 1970’s, Flynnville Train brings a vinyl vibe to the digital age… No smoke and mirrors, Flynnville Train is as live on tape as they are on stage.

Leaving the station more than a decade ago with miles and miles of road behind them, and hours upon hours seated at the writing table or standing on stage, four men are aboard Flynnville Train--Brian Flynn (lead vocals), Brent Flynn (lead guitar/vocals), Joseph Shreve (Bass), Tommy Bales (Drums).

Full-grown men playing full-grown music, the group is more than the sum of their parts; the Flynnville Train blend is like an 18-year bottle of scotch. With a sound that is rock-steady strong and goes down easy, these road-tested, Indiana-bred warriors wear like an old pair of boots that are comfortably “lived-in.”

Flynnville Train is hard-living optimism—made clear in their music. A group of guys who have experienced their fair share of trouble and pain, the overall tone of their music speaks to their dream of making music “their way.”

Previously seated on the Show Dog Records roster, an imprint known for producing knock-down-drag-out, in-your-face tunes, Flynnville Train celebrated chart success with three single releases “Last Good Time”, “Nowhere Than Somewhere”, and “Tequila Sheila”. For thirteen month, Flynnville Train’s hard rocking country sound and high energy live performance was the perfect compliment for the Toby Keith Tour where they made new fans across the United States.

Their most recent album REDEMPTION (released in 2010) is straight up, foot-stompin’, whiskey-soaked, gravel flyin’, country rock. A collaborative effort that is 100% ironclad, proud and true, it is evident, from start to finish, this is no runaway train; it’s right on track.

To capture the group’s driving musical texture, the band locked down, through night and day, to “wood shed” the songs. “We’d write the songs and then record them just like they did in the 60s and 70s.” The four laid down the tracks live; playing their parts head-to-head and toe-to-toe—the music sang magically.

Flynnville Train remains in the vein to whole-heartedly embrace the “finer side” of redneck livin’ with Grandma’s home cookin’ (“Home”), prime seats at NASCAR (“Turn Left”), and raising hell at a local and renowned honky-tonk, Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge (“Thirty-Three Steps”).

On the other side of the tracks, REDEMPTION reveals the guys’ faith in mankind, belief in an honest day’s work and a greater power. “Friend of Sinners” is a slow-tempo cry for help from a man who has broken every rule, lost every friend and fears it is too late to turn it all around. “On Our Way” finds the group road-weary and blurry-eyed but remaining steadfast--they wouldn’t want to live any other way. “Alright,” an up-tempo ‘livin’-in-the-moment’ jam, sums up the working man’s viewpoint that there ain’t nothin’ wrong with “playin’ as hard as you work.” [A Flynnville Train motto!]

Reviving a tried and true, time-tested artistry, Flynnville Train rides the rails to seamlessly weave their sound with the tradition of southern rock heroes like Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ-Top—uniting hungry generations of all ears. It's music that never tires; it gets into your soul and moves your spirit. Long awaited and right on time, Flynnville Train is music worth its weight.
