"Exclusive Track + Tour Premier: FOAM- I Could Milk Myself"

Looking for your mid-week grunge fix? Step into our musical alleyway and let us deal you some heavy new shit from Perth kings FOAM. “I Could Milk Myself” is our first taste of the trio’s forthcoming debut album – title, and all the other stuff, TBA for now – and sweet mother of Nirvana, is it a quality jam. Clocking in at a dope 4:20, the tune is as pretty as it is gritty, a slathering of raw drums, guitars, and slurred vocals that, while totally all over the shop, just weasel their way right into your fucking heart.

“‘I Could Milk Myself’ is a song about companionship, anxiety and self-reflection,” says frontman Joel Martin. “I believe that the relationships you share with people are some of the most defining and important aspects of life.

“Sometimes when you find yourself vulnerable or lost, that support network of friends and/or family can be the only thing between you and that black void. No matter how independent or strong a person you are, sharing your experience is surely better than an entirely masturbatory existence.”

In support of the new howler, FOAM will be heading off on an extensive tour of the country all throughout August – stages in Perth, Newcastle, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Kyenton, Sydney and Wollongong will never be the same again. Date and venue info for all of the shows can be found below. Support acts will vary from date to date, but look, with how many times we unashamedly set “I Could Milk Myself” on auto-repeat, we’d be cool with a single 3-hour set from the boys themselves.

"The Feeling Is Mutual EP Exclusive"

Perth outfit FOAM have been knocking around these parts for a while now, with a polished but noisy 90s garage-rock sound that would go down as perfectly in 1995 as it does in 2015. With influences ranging from Nirvana and Nick Cave to The Drones and Johnny Cash, it's an aggressive rock sound that has elements of noise-pop, and it's rad. Most recently they launched a split EP with fellow Perth rockers PUCK, which gets us up to now and the upcoming release of their new EP, The Feeling Is Mutual. Essentially, we fucking love this band, and we're so stoked they've given us said EP to stream a week ahead of its April 3 release, and just in time for its official launch, Friday 27 March at The Bakery with Hideous Sun Demon, Super Best Friends (ACT), Shit Narnia, Skullcave and Childsaint DJs. So tuck into the EP now, jump on to the Facebook Event HERE, and read below for some insight into the EP itself. - Pilerats

"Sleepy Sun at Perth Festival"

First and foremost appeared local Perth band FOAM who had the honour of opening for Sleepy Sun, and played with a finesse deserving of such a prestigious slot. Their decidedly garage grunge sound has evolved over the years to a point of maturity as musicians, showing that their music can hold its own in a concert setting rather than just being reserved for a dingy pub stage. The trio played effortlessly, with tight arrangements and a confident stage presence. Guitartist and vocalist, Joel Martin, lead the three-piece band with his grungy vocals and penetrating riffs, performing with unmatched rigour and looking ever the part of frontman. Jackson Hawdon’s uncluttered but bold drumming held the band together, both following and driving Martin and bassist Harley Barnaby. With natural talent and a knack for tight arrangements, FOAM are certainly worth keeping an eye on. - Spaceship News

"Resound"

FOAM present a sound so brilliantly in-your-face that they could easily have been straight out of the 90's Seattle scene. Joel Martin's raw vocals effortlessly walk a tightrope over sounding like every other alternative rock band; FOAM radiate an energy and tenacity that sets them apart from the dozens of garage rockers before them. The band has been described as a fusion of classic grunge, alt-rock, post-punk, and likened to Johnny Cash and Nirvana – but in essence, FOAM are doing their own thing, and aren't afraid of it. Drummer Jackson Hawdon doesn't miss a beat, bassist Harley Barnaby maintains immaculate rhythm, and the three members collectively form a well-oiled machine of passive-aggressive, rough, rocking art. So Far So Good was the highlight of their set for me, the only thing better than the vibes from this song being frontman Martin's hair - Pilerats Magazine

"STEP PANTHER, WAX WITCHES & FOAM"

FOAM were competing with Step-Panther to be the strongest band of the night with complete grunge. The three-piece from Perth give nod to one of their main influences Nirvana with a hint of Pearl Jam. FOAM however are far from stealing 90s back catalogues and stand on their own as a band.

Their songs are so well developed and fantastic sounding that it is hard to believe they aren't more well known. FOAM ricocheted off the walls with. They just completely nailed the set. - The Music

"Groovin The Moo 2013"

With an early kick off with gates opening at 10.30, local talents FOAM and The Love Junkies were some of the first WA talents to take to the stage. Although the crowd was small, reliable reports indicate they were all highly enthused by the goods offered by the locals. Big things to come for these young groups. - Spaceship News

"Big Day Out 2013 at Claremont Showgrounds"

Crashing out of the gates promptly at 11am, local three-piece FOAM kicked the day off right with a noisy set of scuzz-rock that had an unprecedentedly large early crowd head banging along in the merciful shade of the Vans pavilion. Having won Triple J’s unearthed competition to get on the bill, the lads were well and truly stoked to be there, and were genuinely appreciative of the positive reaction they received. After smashing through recent single ‘So Far So Good’, the guys closed out the set with a bang and received a warm response for their trouble. - Spaceship News

"The Love Junkies Album Launch at Mojos Bar"

Mercifully Mudlark and FOAM came to my rescue and battered the bad memories from my mind. These two are probably the best support acts any band could hope for. Mudlark have such an exciting, refreshing sound and the reversed roles of guitar and percussion are inspirational. FOAM’s powerful rocking set worked the crowd into a sweaty frenzy; I was hooked simply on how much the frontman reminded me of David Gilmore. - Colosoul Magazine

"DZ Deathrays @ Amplifier"

FOAM absolutely frothed their self-dubbed “grungabilly rock” with frontman Joel Martin vocally dancing between melody and sandpaper screaming amid a face full of his own hair. The garage and nails-on-blackboard vox balanced perfectly with the rock riffs in debut single, Sarpa Salpa, and percussion plus sweat and the hair-do that went with them was more than worthy of the ‘90s metal in most tracks including Mellow Fellow, pronounced affectionately by the band as “Mella Fella”. Total Body Dysfunction brought the garage bass intro that slapped you so silly that there’s no doubt this three-headed cub is growing into a big cat feasting for a comfortable kill.

Bio

FOAM are a three-piece heavy-alternative band from Perth, WA. Their live performances deliver a filthy wall of sound reminiscent of the alternative rock boom of the late 80’s/early 90’s. With influences including Nick Cave, Johnny Cash, The Breeders, The Drones and anything Steve Albini, FOAM tread the line between infectious melody and vicious punk. With a solid reputation as a strong live band, FOAM have supported acts including The Rubens, DZ Deathrays and Sleepy Sun (USA).

FOAM have 4 EP releases under their belt including Sarpa Salpa (2013), Run Kon Koma (2014), FOAM/Puck split vinyl (2015) and The Feeling Is Mutual (2015). Each of these releases picked up national airplay on Triple J and community radio stations around Australia. In the past few years FOAM have toured the country numerous times playing festivals (MATES Sydney/Big Day Out Perth/Groovin' The Moo Bunbury), headlining their own shows and nationally supporting acts such as DZ Deathrays and Wax Witches.

FOAMs debut album it set to come out in Feb 2017. The first single I Could Milk Myself will be released July 8 and launched at Mojos in North Fremantle July 30 with support from Doctopus, Puck, Regular Boys and The Kramers.
