Following the release of their debut Lullaby 7” in 2009, Austin’s Followed By Static got busy adding new members and recording more songs from their explosive live sets. They enlisted Scott Baltimore (Reverend Glasseye, Baltimore Harbor) as full-time keys man, and a slew of part time drummers including Robert Davis (Damage Pants, Broke Beads, iKiLLCaRS) and Thom Washburn (Reverend Glasseye) in both the live and studio sets.
As 2009 came to a close, Followed By Static split time between their home Soul Korea Studio and Skyler McGlothin’s Laguna
Studio, crafting a number of new recordings. The Smiles 7” combines the best of those two worlds -- the Soul Korea textured
noise of “Smiles” and the sparse, guttural “Bones”, complimented by the analog warmth of Laguna’s tape machine, as well as
Robert Davis’ drum work.
However, Followed By Static are not content with one release for 2010 as they have scheduled for a November 2010 release of a 7” split with Bonnibonita on Bombay Cove Records. Simply put, these men are busy. And thank the Gods they are because
otherwise we wouldn’t have songs like “Smiles” or “Bones” out in the music world.
