Road Through Independence

Written By: Doug Carlson

Fate tosses a road before me
She found another fool to love her for awhile
I took the long road to where the crow flies
You melted the cold betrayal with
your summer smile
As I drove through Independence the moon was just a sliver above
the sillouette of giants to my side
When the Minarets came into view
I knew I could forgive her
When I saw the full moon rising in
your eyes.
Red Aspen paint the canyons
Paint my world a different color
than blues and greys
And if I'm fallin' it don't matter
stars are fallin' all around us where
we lay.
And the road through Independence is a road I've never
taken though it seems just like a
dream you can't recall
When the Minarets gazed silently
as two wounded hearts awakened
In the skly Sierra waves began to fall.
Two crosses along the highway
Winter soon will come and bury them with snow
And when I drive through the pass
to see you, they reimind me I still
have you there to hold.
As I drove through Independence
the moon was just a sliver above
the silloutte of giants to my side
When the Minarets came into view
I knew I'd been delivered when I
saw the full moon risin' in your
eyes, in you eyes.
