forBrothers is a rock band that could be described as a modern blend of Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young vocals with a touch of over-driven guitar and melodic bass lines; or quite simply put, folk on steroids.

Biography

forBrothers is Shaant Shishmanian, Aram Shishmanian, Ben Marino,  and Cole Marino.  They are hometown friends born, raised, and currently living in Allendale, NJ.  Ben, Shaant, and Aram were in the same grade from 1st through 12th grade, living on the same block most of those years.  The brothers grew up singing and playing in school bands, family, and church functions.

The two sets of brothers first performed together at the wedding of Ben and Cole’s sister in December 2013.  At the request of the bride, they performed “High Hills,” an original song that Shaant had written years earlier.  Family and friends alike decided that something had to be done about the sound and chemistry that so naturally came together between the brothers.  forBrothers was formed in the summer of 2014.  Writing, recording and performing began.

Partnering with Indiegogo, the band set out to raise funds for a professionally recorded, self-produced, full-length album.  Thanks to the incredible support of fans and friends across the globe, their goal of $16,500 was met over the course of a 60-day campaign.

On July 7, 2015, forBrothers released their first single, “Josephine,” accompanied by a lyric video up on YouTube.  Soon after on July 24th, their debut album “FOOL” was released.

Since then, the band has performed to crowds of up to 1,000+, worked alongside major organizations such as The Salvation Army USA, Urban Kingdom, and GBIMC, and has shared the stage with Phil Keaggy, Sleepy Man, decker., C. Gibbs, and Victory Dance (ex Fancy Reagan), among others.

Their music could be described as a modern blend of Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young vocals with a touch of over-driven guitar and melodic bass lines; or quite simply, folk on steroids.

Lyrics

Fool

Written By: Shaant Shishmanian

If I decide to find another dream; another world that I can seek
If I decide to be king of the world,
Would you support my decision you boys and girls?
Just please make my own decisions so I can be the king of the world
And be lazy and be crazy, have all the money, and all the riches in the world
'Cause I'm a fool

Criticize me and tell me that I'm a fool for what I believe in
բայց հաւատքս չեմ մոռանայ
Տիրոջս չեմ ուրանա
Խաչը ուսիս կը գնամ
Մինչ Հիսուսի միանամ

Love is not a commodity to be sold
So love like a brother for the sake of those who walk by your side
For the sake of others

One, two, buckle my shoe, three, four, shut the door
And tell me that I'm a fool

Fall On Me

Written By: Shaant Shishmanian,Ben Marino,Aram Shishmanian,Cole Marino

When your feet and your knees they buckle and fail
When you stumble on a pebble and you're on your way down
When the ground it crumbles underneath your being
Do not fear death just fall on me

Fall on me

When the grip of your mother on your body is lost
And arises the limit of your father's foresight
When your life is not in their hands at all
Don't you worry just fall on me

Fall on me

When your spirit is oppressed and your strength is gone
And the pressure on your lungs is just too much
When your heart it breaks and ceases to beat,

Fall on me

I'll be the one to keep you on your two feet
Come away with me I'll give my love to you
Let me be the one to truly keep you nestled
And show you everything no creature can conceive by itself
Even when it comes to death I'd give you all of my life
If only you would set your guard down before me won't you fall

Fall on me

Make Something Right (feat. Carli Lampley)

Written By: Shaant Shishmanian,Ben Marino

Millions of people who all had a mother
Were cradled with love
Watched over from above
The truth is that we've all been wounded

Children are pure
Defenseless and feeble
They're innocent babies
Sustained by others,
But evil has a plan to take hold. So we say

Make something right again

She trusted a man and he had such nice eyes
Black petty peacoat; He was just so fine
He led her to believe he loved her. So she said

Make something right again

We lost our trust in another and we questioned
Every man on the face of this wretched earth
Is there a way to instill a childlike innocence
And go back to when getting hurt was just so simple?

Make something right again

Millions of people who all had a mother
Were cradled with love
Watched over from above
The truth is that we've all been wounded

Don't Know Me

Written By: Shaant Shishmanian

I see you climbing up my window
Why don't you come up and say Hello? Say Hello
Don't struggle 'cause I'll help you up and see to it that you, you don't fall
Let's play for a while
Let's stay and reconcile

I see you climbing up my window
Why don't you shut it and let me go? Let me go
You say, Don't struggle 'cause I'll help you up and see to it that you; you don't fall
I shouldn't let you come near me
'Cause you don't know me

Who are you? You're beautiful, but your eyes deceive
I ought to pray lest I fall; lest I fall

This enigmatic voice, which calls me and I respond blindly
And in the midst of taking part in this game, I find myself bleeding my blood
I shouldn't let you come near me, 'cause you don't know me.

The enemy prowls like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour
To devour your soul
Take refuge in the one who delivers you from the snare of the trapper
And keeps you by still waters

You don't know me
You don't! You don't care for me!
You don't! You don't know me!

Foothold

Written By: Shaant Shishmanian

You don't care; care for me

And now I yell,
Please don't let me fall
Now make me vigilant
'Cause I don't need to bleed
'Cause He bled
He bled

We don't need to feel guilty
No, no more shame
There is freedom all around us

'Cause He bled
He bled

No foothold on me
Yeah, there ain't no foothold on me
Amen. There's no foothold

Sarkis

Written By: Shaant Shishmanian,Haig Shishmanian

Beautiful eyes, thought they were blue
Works with stone and mud and scrap
No one is left
But he loves his friends

He is a fish out of water
He mourns in a city; the people no longer his
He's an outsider

Apathetically sympathetic know-not-much

Young boys turned to old boys

Not knowing good from bad
Only pain and pleasure

Look into Sarkis' eyes, you'll see yourself
If you can bear his smile, look
Say something; anything
He will break you
On the ride back home to your western life
You won't want to live
Shame on you

Beautiful eyes, thought they were blue
Works with stone and mud and scrap
No one is left
But he loves his friends, oh
But he loves his friends
We should love our friends

Pain

Written By: Shaant Shishmanian,Bob Marino

Here we go again
Yeah, it's you and me, my friends
Outside we seem just fine
But inside we push to smile
It's the pain that follows us

It binds us to the ground
It's made us slaves. We've become slaves
I'm prone to rebellion
Oh, sleek and sick rebellion
It's the pain that follows us

In my heart I am disturbed
I am in torment
My groans are many
And my aching heart is faint
It's the pain that follows us

O Lord, look on my affliction,
For the enemy has triumphed over me
My sins have been bound into a yoke
They have been hung on my neck
For I've been most rebellious

It's the pain that follows us

Josephine

Written By: Shaant Shishmanian

Josephine, Josephine
You had life but left it behind
Josephine, Josephine
We'll never forget
But your life was unlived

I know it was hard to breathe
I know it was hard to slumber
I question the worth of suffering in the mind
To live, or not to live

To accept grace would take away the pain; and love
Ah, what a deep love
But this knowledge was taken from you
Ripped away and you did not see it

Should we say if only?
Would you have been here?
But we did not know your heart
We did not know your heart
But He did, He did

Josephine, Josephine
You had life but left it behind
Josephine, Josephine
We'll never forget
But your life was unlived

High Hills

Written By: Shaant Shishmanian

Though the fig tree may not blossom, may not blossom
Nor fruit be on the vines, on the vines

Though the labor of the olive may fail, it may fail

And the fields yield no food, no food

Oh, though the flock may be cut off from the fold,

And there be no herd in the stalls

Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,

I will joy in the God of my salvation.
The Lord God is my strength;

And He will make my feet like the deer’s feet,

Oh and He will make me walk on my high hills
