"Amie Street Artist of the Week"

On Being Amiestreet's Artist of the Week:
"Soulful Vocals with Folky Guitars
Ford Turrell is one of those artists that you'll hear for the first time and say, "why isn't he famous yet?" His blend of acoustic pop combines easy-going melodies with soulful, breathy vocals at the forefront. Turrell's self-titled album was mixed by Jacquie King (Josh Ritter, Kings of Leon, Sea Wolf) and sounds like a cross between Ray Lamontagne and Otis Redding. Take a listen and we think you'll agree that Ford Turrell is going places."

"Mesmerizing"

"[Ford] Turrell's smoky vocals and wispy, drifting melodies convey a certain mystique, but ultimately this is an album that quietly takes hold and then proves mesmerizing in the process." - Performing Songwriter, March/April 2008

- Performing Songwriter

"Critical Praise, Rabid Fans"

"Soft-spoken but confident, Ford Turrell’s laid-back crooning propels his heartfelt lyrical jewels. The Nashville transplant’s 2007 eponymous debut explored familiar territory through gently inquisitive and moody compositions, turning heads and prompting enthusiastic praise from critics and rabid fan devotion."--BMI

""Just a Matter of Time...""

"Ford Turrell will likely be an artist that you can say you heard him first when a year or two from now he's being played on all the top 40 radio stations. The phrase "only a matter of time" fits nicely." - The Album Project Review

"...Artist To Watch..."

"Ford Turrell's self-titled debut introduces us to a talented young artist to watch. Turrell's well-crafted songs and rootsy, organic sound will appeal to fans of Ray LaMontagne or David Gray, and his poetic lyrics will have you hanging on every word. A promising debut from a promising artist." -Abby White, Music Editor Performing Songwriter Magazine - Performing Songwriter Magazine

This is the self-titled full-length debut release by Ford Turrell, a folk-rock singer-songwriter based in Nashville, TN. All of the songs, including vocals, were tracked live in just a few days over the Spring and Summer of 2007.

Says Ford of the recording process, “ I wanted the sounds on the record to be the way it went down in the studio. My desire to record live was heightened by listening to performances by some of my favorite bands caught on record, where everyone is in one room and feeding off of each other, taking the energy of the songs and the performance to another level.”

What starts with a whisper fills the room as every instrument comes together to form a full band piece-by-piece. From the quiet beginning of “The Stillest Hour,” through the raucous joy of “Till I See You Once Again” and “Something to Believe In,” and into the very last note of “Roll Away the Stone,” Ford Turrell will easily appeal to fans of artists like Ryan Adams, Ray LaMontagne, David Gray, and The Band.

Ford Turrell was mixed by Jacquire King, whose credits include Tom Waits, Kings of Leon, and Josh Ritter.

"I wonder if an artist this thoughtful isn't up to something more profound than a well-painted picture. His instantaneous popularity suggests an enlightened existential awareness made so real the songs become tangible entities, accessible worlds for a listener to inhabit and make his/her own. His current release, Ford Turrell, lands loads of attention from online listeners all over the world and radio DJ's across the nation." -Amiestreet

"This music reflects this journey of unknowing. Ford's poetically crafted lyrics and authentic, intimate voice reflect the rich descriptions of a world without epiphany or definitive answers, open to possibility, infinite explanation, and multiple truths. This is music which reflects its creator, with a question mark at the end, not a period." -B. Gallaher
