Forest Avenue

Forest Avenue is an alternative/indie solo act from Detroit, MI. His music embodies a simple, yet blunt, message to the underground rock scene- creative honesty is key. Although the only way to truly understand the experience his music delivers, his philosophy and vision are best described in his own words. When asked to explain his high artistic morals in an interview with Common Revolt Media, he jumped into a passionate explanation: "To me, today's rock music has fallen back into the music industry's cycle. you have the entire community of artists selling themselves out to a certain sound, designed to appease and sell. I hear less and less originality in rock today- just more and more pop. It all sounds the same, and for me, it crosses the line when I don't feel anything when I listen to it," He continues, "For me, music has no other purpose than to communicate the things I feel when I play and sing it. The second I change my music to please someone else, it's not honest, and it's not me. I play what comes out, which might not be what everyone wants to hear. But at least they'll feel something because of it."

And he hits the nail on the head- his music is nothing but powerful and honest.

As reflected in his unique sound, Forest Avenue cites his top three musical influences as Mae, Brand New, and Nirvana. His debut album, “Steady Diet of Pop Tarts and Cheap Tea”, will be available for free download on February 19th. When explaining why the album is available at no cost, he says, “I’m trying to get my name out there, and that’s it. I want to know if people can feel what I feel when I play the songs, and I’ll be able to reach a lot more people if I just don’t charge anything for it.” It is easy to see that Forest Avenue puts everything he can into the songs- “I put a lot of heart into [the music], you can’t put a price on that. At least people will know I’m sincere about what I’m trying to do, you know. I have enough respect for my own music that I wouldn’t take advantage of it like that.” The album is comprised of several songs that were written, recorded, produced, and distributed entirely by the 18 year old himself, in a performance easily mistaken for a five-piece band with a management team.
