Bio

Through the recent release of their remarkable debut album (Pura Vida), Forged In Violet has pronounced their own arrival to the music world with indomitable spirit and unmistakable verve, wrapped in a veil of charming mystery. For FIV, the past three years of humble beginnings and preparation for Pura Vida’s launch have rightfully yielded one of the most undeniably distinct, explicably sexy, and visionary sounds of the Millennium thus far. With songs that sincerely embrace all aspects of the emotional spectrum on many different levels, FIV modestly challenges members of their audience to grip the myriad complexities of their own humanity through uninhibited passion and suspended judgment. Soaring vocals, compelling lyrics and gritty guitar lines somehow manage to blend marvelously with the distinguished type of deep, progressive drums and fat bass lines that you would otherwise expect to find alone—defiantly spilling out into streets through the doors of your most obscure local dance club. In such a way, their enriched-yet-organic sound unapologetically evokes a feeling of conflicted nostalgia; often guiding the listener to several assumed influences including: Depeche Mode, The Doors, New Order, Jane’s Addiction, BT, Stone Temple Pilots, The Cure and the elusive ‘Rave Age’. One thing seems certain—no matter where the roots of that nostalgia may take someone, the inability to pigeon-hole the eclectic, dynamic nature of FIV’s music will inspire every listener, in his or her own way, to expand their current understanding of modern alternative rock. FIV will no doubt be a milestone in the coming musical renaissance that so many people have been waiting for. Even through relative obscurity, they already stand tall in contrast to the stagnant, predictable and homogenous nature of many key players in popular music today. FIV’s ethereal name pays homage to The Violet Flame—a term that ancient spiritual alchemists first coined to describe the powerful force which transforms negative human energy into positive. In true alchemic essence, FIV’s signature music succeeds in bringing the most noteworthy elements of a rock show together with live electronic tracks to form a hybrid sound that will define its own unifying genre for years to come.
