Forgetful Old Guys play primarily original songs composed by Alex Hatcher. The band also plays classic rock covers of the 60's - 80's. Hatcher's compositions are "real songs," with verse, chorus and bridge, with melody, with harmony, and rhythm. The music has been compared to classic bands such as America and Steely Dan. Instrumentally the songs feature musically diverse guitar interpretations, melodic bass guitar and steady and tasteful drumming and percussion. Alex is influenced on guitar by David Gilmour, Robin Trower, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton. Bob's bass playing has been influenced by McCartney, John Paul Jones, Peter Cetera and other melodic players. Rick favors the Starkeys with a touch of Keith Moon. F.O.G. is a rebirth of musicians from a bygone era who love the music and play for the joy of making their own sound. Alex's warm, soulful lead vocals, interesting and lyrical stories, and the band's intricate instrumentals are the foundation upon which the band was built. The songs tell stories of humanity and nature.
