Bio

For-given combines strong female and male vocals with a wide variety of alternative/soft rock sounds. This new Spearfish, South Dakota band is a youthful, energetic, charismatic group striving to become a powerful outreach force for their Lord, Jesus Christ. For-given was initially formed through Saddle Mountain Ministries as a worship team. Led by Pastor’s son and worship leader, Nick Montieth with co-singer and buddy vocalist being Tami-Jo Simek. The guitar team of Nick(lead), Colby McGinley(rhythm), Jake Grass(bass) is the driving force of the band. The percussion unit of Dani Hertel(Keyboard) and Chase McGinley(drums) sets the atmosphere and beat for the band.
Nick, a talented 16 year old singer/song writer, just recently won a local Colgate Country Music Talent Search and puts on a pretty mean wedding singer show. He has aspirations of wrestling collegiately at a Division 1 college. Tami-Jo Simek, the group’s female vocalist grew up singing in churches all around the nation. Affectionately known as “TAMI-JOOOOOOO”, she is now married with two wonderful children, Lily and Reed, with her supporting husband, Mike. Colby McGinley, Chase’s “bigger” brother is an undergraduate student at Black Hills State University and has started for the Yellow Jackets football team. Chase McGinley, fondly known as “Cash” graduated from University of Wyoming with a degree in Business, and shall we say “entrepreneurship.” He is currently looking for work. Dani Hertel(keyboard) also attends BHSU and is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education and tutors local high school students in her spare time. Her nickname in the church is yellow-rosa-texas. Her sister, Bailey Voss(harp) is a new addition to the band and has also helped in writing several songs. Although commonly dazed and confused, she is also one of the more methodical and thorough helps to the band. She is also attending BHSU and is undecided about her major. Jake Grass(skinny) is scarcely seen without his sunglasses and vest, always alert and focused at practice was recently added to the band within the last year because of his one amazing attribute, which is coolness.
For-given plays weekly for Saddle Mountain Church in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota and has played for numerous Fellowship of Christian Athletes events at Black Hills State University. The whole group can agree that the band is much deeper than just instruments and vocals, “We believe that music is just a platform that can be used to reach others for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Songs like “There is Hope” was written after a number of suicides and deaths in a matter of months at Nick’s high school in Spearfish. The song was written to inspire hope amidst all the pain and suffering of death. They also spice it up with “Home Now”, an upbeat country-styled song written to pacify Nick’s dad’s love for country music. The band has been heavily influenced by top Christian bands, such as Jeremy Camp, NeedtoBreathe, Casting Crowns, Third Day and also follows the sounds of Chris Daughtry and Pearl Jam. For-given is excited for the journey that lays ahead and looks forward to performing for many years to come.
