Feeling a bit camera shy

Former Cell Mates answered the call in the fruitless, barren wasteland that was the music scene at the turn of the century. Armed with cheap guitars, premium lager and a desire to retain our birthright from insipid indie bedroom dwellers, punk rock fashionistas and pretenders to the rock and roll throne, former cell mates made it their aim to put the soul into rock’n’roll and the spunk into cow punk.

Oozing the original yet familiar, the former cell mates’ sound has often been compared to such classic rock luminaries as Thin Lizzy & Motorhead with the punk rock garage frenzy of Turbonegro & Mudhoney with the ragged, drunken soul of the Replacements watching over them. For those in the know this is hardly astounding when you take into account their rock and roll resume, which include such bands as The Coyote Men,
Leatherface, The Golden Virgins, The Illegal Movers.

After accidently taking a year off/ splitting up they decided to reconvene. Borrowing a second guitar player from the ranks of hardcore punk-metalers THE MERCURY LEAGUE, they've gone on to record some impressive demos as a foursome.
The previous limitations of a three piece never seemed apparent until their blistering live comeback at the end of 2007.

Having more room to experiment with their sound enabled them to introduce more acoustic guitars, piano and lap steel to the mix. The material on 'Lit Up Like Christmas' will be released on bespoke punk rock label Household Name Records in early 2008 which sees FORMER CELL MATES take a more 'rootsy' approach to their songwriting whilst retaining the sleazy garage-rock punch they're so proud of.
