Bio

Singer and songwriter Tom Desson takes centre stage for the first time in his latest musical incarnation, Fourway Flashers. It’s an appropriate moniker since cars have played a key role in bringing music into his life. Tom credits his passion for music to listening to the car radio with his father, as a child. After a car accident in 1983 left him in a coma, his dreams of becoming a pilot were over. Instead, he turned his attention to music.

Influenced by everyone from Matthew Sweet to Jimi Hendrix to The Beastie Boys, he started writing while attending Dalhousie University. Once back in Toronto, Tom wrote songs for bands Letters on the Phone and Joywood.

He’s experienced a creative renaissance since leaving his job as a high school teacher and converting a century-old home, not only into an abode for him and his new wife, but also into a recording studio. He is back at work creating music that is personal, haunting, vital, and truly independent.

Adding even more to the intimacy of the EP, it was recorded mostly at his home studio, everywhere from the basement to the backyard with the help of a few talented friends.

Fourway Flashers is singer and songwriter Tom Desson, producer and guitarist Adam Faux, bassist Peter Fusco, and drummer Jesse Capon. Their self-titled EP is available now. Tom is also awaiting the release of his next production – a baby with wife Karen.
