Foxadillo has just as much grit as polish. The Phoenix-based quartet plays a unique brand of power pop heavily influenced by jazz fusion and jam rock. At a live show, the band seamlessly transitions between extended grooves and catchy choruses, allowing for raw, organic improvisation within dramatic arrangements. Co-frontmen Jared Michael and Kevin Hanlon have styles that are almost diametrically opposed, yet surprisingly complementary. Imagine a collaboration between Ben Folds and Bruce Springsteen; Jared, on the keyboards, brings drama and complexity, while Kevin, on guitar, invokes Americana-blues with his brash crooning. Rounding out the group are bassist Vishwam Aggarwal and drummer Eddie Sandoval, grounding the eclectic whirlwind into a tight, cohesive sound. The band has played at a variety of venues around Arizona, and they are equally at home on a big stage as they are at dive bars and house shows. Their debut single, “Ships and Planes” dropped earlier this year, and they are currently putting the finishing touches on their first full-length album, which will be released later in 2019.
