"Gibson number 1 band of SXSW 2009"

GIBSON: The 5 SXSW Acts You Can't Miss...

"Angry Vs The Bear'' #1

Good sign: The members of this rambunctious British quartet look like proper rock stars, with ridiculous sunglasses, tight vests and a singer who looks like she’s spent a lot of time studying Debbie Harry pin-ups. Better sign: Their music, recorded with Grammy-winning producer Simon Gogerly (U2, Gwen Stefani) bursts with punky energy and irresistible new-wave fizz." - Gibson

"Austin Chronicle - SXSW 2009"

''The Cutest Unsigned Band Award goes to Angry vs. the Bear, whose appealing looks and irresistible sound drew crowds during a series of showcases, including a packed house that overflowed onto Sixth Street stopping traffic outside of B.D. Riley's." - Stephen Macmillan Moser, The Austin Chronicle

"Punkass.com SXSW review 2009"

SXSW MVP: Angry Vs The Bear Best half-hour set I’ve ever heard, and it even lost a few minutes to a technical problem. These uber new wave kids are just getting their start, but singer Mitzi Fox already owns the stage. I immediately thought of Debbie Harry when I saw her, and after reading about them online, apparently every other music geek out there did, too. “Frantic dance pop” at its best. When their album drops, we owe it to our rear ends to buy it. MVP Track: What Would You Do [Punkass Blog.com]

"Swanfest live review 2009"

Angry Vs The Bear crackle with frissons of electricity as they take the stage. They've had a very successful few months, supporting Florence And The Machine and Esser, as well as taking Texas by storm at SXSW festival, and they have the confidence and presence of a band that have been together much longer than just twelve months. The crowd come alive for sizzling singer Mitzi Fox as she pouts and coos her way through their short set, channelling early No Doubt girl pop with a sparkly modern twist. If they continue on their upward trajectory with exciting live shows and a catalogue of feisty yet fun pop tunes, they're likely to have careers even bigger than their matching backcombed barnets. - Anna Dobbie (Clickmusic.com) - Clickmusic.com

"The Fly review of AVB at 'Battered Festival' 2009"

''...If the event belongs to anybody though, it's the impossibly well-dressed electropop combo Angry vs. The Bear, who sound every bit as good as they look - raucous, glitzy, and unashamedly fun, like the sound of the latest Yeah Yeah Yeahs album played with the energy of their first one.'' - Nick Butler, The Fly magagzine - The Fly

"BBC Manchester review of AVB @ In The City October 2008"

"Four immaculately coiffed hairdos, tighter than tight jeans and a young Debbie Harry lookalike on vocals, Angry vs the Bear have got me intrigued before they even hit their first note. Stomping around, marking the stage as their territory, AVTB chuck out buckets of bravado and hope it sticks. There are two baby TVs on stage with Yogi Bear cartoons playing, vocal FX aplenty and percussive capers, all adding a professional edge to the brutally simple music. Obvious shades of No Doubt, X Ray Specs and new superheroes The Ting Tings shine through as disembodied backing vocals float in from outer space, and the style strays from straight electro pop into new wave ska and punk territory. Exuberant and fun, this band might still be searching for their sound, but are packing a punch already and are definitely one to watch.'' Carol Hodge - (BBC Manchester) - BBC Manchester

"Clickmusic.com review of AVB live@ Colchester Arts Centre 2009"

''Every little girl dreams of being Angry Vs The Bear's frontwoman; dressed in Barbie's sluttiest cast-offs, topped with a platinum-blonde mullet, and flanked by a bassist and guitarist who resemble Edward Scissorhands and Sweeney Todd respectively, Mitzi Fox is the poster girl of kitschy girl-rawk. She warbles and coos and spits and yelps like an early Gwen Stefani before she went B-A-N-A-N-A-S, over ska-infused keytar grooves and yogi bear video loops.'' Anna Dobbie (For Clickmusic.com) - clickmusic.com

"BugBear Review 2009"

''ANGRY VS THE BEAR- Poutingly punky in yer face electro pop with infectious sing-a-long choruses, feisty Debbie Harryesque frontwoman and loadsa energy. Great stuff, somewhere near The Ting Tings address but with a more straightahead punk approach to keep you focused'' - (Bugbear promotions) - Bugbear
