"Beyond Our Means Video"

FOXTROTT is playing back-to-back shows tonight and tomorrow at the M for Montreal festival, and today we're premiering the official video for her track, "Beyond Our Means." The footage was shot with three hi-def cameras during a private showcase at Pop Montreal in FOXTROTT's backyard.

"Beyond Our Means" is an unreleased song from the Montreal singer/songwriter/producer's upcoming "A Taller Us" project due out in the coming months. - Vice

"There Is A Light That Never Goes Out Cover"

A few months ago, we sent Patrick McDermott to Pop Montreal, and one of the things he saw there was the exact performance that was filmed above, of Montrealer Marie-Hélène L. Delorme covering The Smiths’ maybe greatest song, “There Is a Light…” It’s a rendition that Patrick says “stopped me cold,” and that I say provides the first fair challenge in a decade to Schneider TM’s champion coverer’s belt. FOXTROTT plays Glasslands in Brooklyn this Wednesday.

Bio

FOXTROTT is the musical project of MH Delorme- a self-taught singer, songwriter and beatmaking boss from Montreal. Upon the arrival of her debut EP Shields, an emotionally arresting 3-track offering of detailed production and raw presence, the young woman declared her output with a completely honest sound. In a male-dominated world of producers, FOXTROTT brings an effortless touch with melodies that resonate on both sides of the spectrum, finding balance between power and vulnerability.  Coming from an extended musical family Delorme, a third-generation Montrealer, has had a lifelong relationship with music dating back to piano and violin lessons as a child. Early discoveries and exposure to the potential of hip hop, reggae, and electronic music gradually guided her into production and the current DNA of her music. Before FOXTROTT, Delorme released remixes under the MHMHMH moniker then quickly expanded her sound to include her own vocals and instruments. A background in engineering and composing music for film can be heard in the textures of her songs; there’s an unmistakable cinematic feel to her music captured within the simple and powerful pop compositions. Shields, mixed by Damian Taylor (Bjork, The Killers, Arcada Fire), is only the first sampler into the palette of sounds and themes brought together by FOXTROTT. After inspired performances at Pop Montreal, M For Montreal, and a series of powerful videos including a new single "Beyond Our Means", she is now working on a full upcoming album.
