Biography

IN A NOISY WORLD filled with sounds and images, we cry out for an authentic voice -- one who is not afraid to speak truth and purpose to a generation. In singer/songwriter Francesca Battistelli, we have found that voice.

With an upbeat and life-empowering message of fresh hope, this beautiful young woman sings of her passion for life and God and her determined purpose to be all He intended her to be...challenging listeners to take risks, cross self-imposed boundaries and pursue God with all of their hearts. In the title track of her debut album JUST A BREATH she sings, "I want to be caught up in you, I'm standing on the edge of tomorrow, and I want to live my life in your shoes, for I am just a breath..."

Her voice evokes the power and aching soulfulness of Eva Cassidy while her songs capture the originality of John Mayer. She's taken on a major role as the sole writer and co-producer of her first full-length album, effortlessly weaving stories that catch your ear while captivating your heart. Ivan's Song, which was birthed out of a young friend's tragic loss, speaks life and hope to the broken-hearted. "God has a purpose in every plan," she sings, "even when we can't understand."

Influences of Jazz, Gospel, Rock and R&B saturate her music with a rich and expressive style. From the sophisticated jazz feel of Kings Out of Fools to the rock infused I'm Here, Francesca's music crosses boundaries. "Id like my CD to be the first thing people listen to in the morning. It's the kind of music that puts you in the right mindset for the day and encourages you to go for it, pursue your dreams and take risks. I hope my music challenges you to find what you're good at and to do it the best way you know how!" she says.
Francesca believes that she is called to bring encouragement to the discouraged and hope to the hopeless. She knows with every fiber of her being that God created each of us with incredible potential and purpose, and wants her listeners to seek that purpose with passion and without fear. In her song Acquainted she sings, "you're always by my side improving me, not a day goes by when you're not moving me."

She in turn moves us. With humility she offers her debut project...JUST A BREATH.

Symphony

SYMPHONY

VERSE 1
The first time I saw his face
I knew I would never be the same
And the moment he said hello
There was music playing soft and slow

PRE- CHORUS
‘Cause he gave me a reason
To sing every song
But why can’t he see it?
Where did I go wrong?

CHORUS
I thought he was everything
So I gave him my hopes and dreams
What happened to destiny?
And where is my symphony?

VERSE 2
My heart fell to the ground
When it seemed that he had already found
Someone to sing his song
And she sings it real good
But she’ll never sing it
The way that I could

PRE- CHORUS
‘Cause he gives me a reason
To speak every word
But why can’t he see it?
Hasn’t he heard?

CHORUS
I thought he was everything
So I gave him my hopes and dreams
What happened to destiny?
And where is my symphony?

BRIDGE
There should be strings and bells, and pianos too
There should be nobody else but me and you
There should be laughter and flowers
But you’ll never know
Cause you couldn’t hear my symphony
Now where do I go?

CHORUS
I thought you were everything
So I gave you my hopes and dreams
What happened to destiny?
And where is my symphony?

TAG
The first time I saw his face
I knew I would never be the same…

Song Insight: If each of our lives is like a melody, when two lives connect it can be a beautiful symphony. But if one hears the music and the other doesn’t, it’s painful and frustrating.

Ivan's Song

VERSE 1
Gazing into a rain-filled night,
Praying he could run instead of fight.
His eyes are frowning with his heart,
But somehow he gets in his car.

CHORUS
And he cries as he drives down the road
‘Cause where to go he doesn’t know.
How can he know if he never tries?
“Where am I without her” he cries.
As he dries the tears from his precious baby’s eyes
Who just doesn’t know, how could he know?
She’s just not coming home.

VERSE 2
As the cards start to fill his mailbox,
He’s hoping it’s a dream he’ll wake from.
Why this chastening, oh Lord?
This trial’s too big to face alone.

CHORUS
And he sighs as he drives down the road
‘Cause where to go he still doesn’t know.
How can he know if he never tries?
“Where am I without her” he cries.
As he dries the tears from his precious baby’s eyes
Who just doesn’t know, how could he know?
Mama’s not coming home.

BRIDGE
But blessed are you mourners,
For your sorrow will turn into joy.
And do not be discouraged,
‘Cause He is with you wherever you go.
His ways are not our ways.

CHORUS
Now he smiles as he drives down the road
‘Cause where he goes he’s always known.
God has a purpose in every plan,
Even when we can’t understand.
Now he recognizes how she’s still alive in his baby’s eyes,
And he’ll be okay, ‘cause he’ll see her someday.

Song Insight:
This song is close to my heart. It was inspired by a friend’s tragic loss but became a balm to soothe the ache that tragedy left behind. Sometimes words alone aren’t enough, but music is a gift that God uses to bring healing to the broken hearted.

Free To Be Me

Free To Be Me

VERSE 1
At twenty years of age I'm still looking for a dream
A war's already waged for my destiny
But You've already won the battle
And You've got great plans for me
Though I can’t always see

CHORUS
I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to fit the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
On my own I'm so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I'm free to be me

VERSE 2
When I was just a girl I thought I had it figured out
My life would turn out right, and I'd make it here somehow
But things don't always come that easy
And sometimes I would doubt

CHORUS
‘Cause I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to fit the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
On my own I'm so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I'm free to be me

And you’re free to be you

VERSE 3
Sometimes I believe I can do anything
Yet other times I think I've got nothing good to bring
But You look at my heart and You tell me that I've got all you seek
And it’s easy to believe, even though

CHORUS
‘Cause I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to fit the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
On my own I'm so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I'm free to be me
