What began as a mandatory speech class in college, turned into destiny for comedian Frances Dilorinzo. As a freshman, she sat quietly in class. Her instructor encouraged everyone to add humor to his or her speeches. Frances decided to take the risk and everyone laughed at her jokes! From the speech class she was recruited to the college speech team. Frances Dilorinzo became the first to win Californias Gold Metal in the Speech to Entertain category two years in a row!
Once college competition came to an end. Frances hit the real world of comedy the nightclubs in L.A. This was a new world of comedy instead of contending with judges; she had to deal with drunks and hecklers. Much to her own surprise and pleasure, Frances realized she was not only funny, but she was quick. The audience rarely won when they challenged Frances Dilorinzo in a war of wit.
Dilorinzos personality and comedy is fun! She combines enthusiasm with sarcasms, and intellect with silliness. Watching her do stand-up is like ordering a Starbucks Espresso with extra caffeine. As one critic put it, Frances puts the fun in funny.
Although Frances is all female, her comedy is not for women only. She connects with everyone because she is capable of seeing both male and females points of view. Frances notes, People are constantly coming up to me and saying, I dont usually like female comedians, but I think youre hilarious. I say, thanks, because I take it as a compliment.
Shortly after hitting the club circuit, Frances worked her way into television. Her T.V. credits include appearances on Last Comic Standing, Comics Unleashed, Comedy Central, Lifetime, BET, and more. In addition, she has also entertained on USO tours around the world, headlines in Las Vegas and Reno, and has performed for top corporate and college gigs across the country.
